If you never plan on selling the Stradolin and its case, then sticker away. It will not damage the case in any way except possibly maybe as a formerly pristine collectable relic.

    I believe we all...

Re: Mandolin purchase advice for a new player

Then, assuming you know you are going to like it, I would get the best mandolin you can afford. The very best. Get what you think will be your for ever mandolin. Get a mandolin so good that whenever...
  3. Re: Should I put a Mandolin Cafe Sticker on my Vintage Lifton Cas

I plaster my cases with stickers. I even have iron on patches on my cloth cases, so it looks like stickers. So I am the wrong person to ask.

The only question is the case being vintage. I believe...

Re: Cases for Lyon & Healy model A

Yes it would be a gig bag.

It is a personal comfort level thing. My L&H came with a tight fitting Calton case, which I use where I feel I need the extra protection.

    Re: How to remember tunes?

I am not sure there are techniques to learn. It is a skill that can be acquired.

When I can, I spend several days or a week singing the tune or humming it, or kind of skat singing it. When I can...

So what would be a more realistic warning label on a mandolin...

WARNING: Can cause massive almost spontaneous priority changes.

WARNING: Competent use of this device increases endorphins.

    Re: Pick Question

I use a 1.4 mm pick for many types of playing, and I use a 0.75 mm pick for others. Having pick options greatly increases the versatility of one's playing. I don't get the idea of trying to find one...

There is nothing "wrong" with using a capo on a mandolin. Lots of scenarios where it makes sense. And I have been an advocate of painting the capo bright green so that everyone sees it. Don't be shy....

Re: How Long do your J74Strings last?

It all really depends on so many things, how often and hard you play, how you play, your skin chemistry, your mandolin's set up, etc.
