    Re: Mel Bay 200 Mandolin

Reminds of a similar story: When Herschel Sizemore's Bounce Away came out, I recorded the record off the radio via a local station's bluegrass show. I learned Fiddler's Creek, in A chord, off of that...

I tried that on my James T/P (leather under the lip), but the cover would then not fully close - no click. Maybe need thinner leather there.

    Re: Northfield Recurve Case

I bought a used green one, the latches are a bit dodgy but work fine, with a little care. I like the case - lightweight, good instrument seating/protection and the mandolin is easily placed within...

    Re: Chris Thile's Loars

So, what's incredible? That he owns one Loar? Two Loars? Many pickers own Loars. Or do you mean that the particular mandolin he is playing here is incredible? Or that his playing is incredible?

Re: What's Your Favorite Instrumental-Mandolin Album?

Fun to swing back around to this topic and to see some new (to me) suggestions:

ralph j mentioned this one: Dave Gross: Mandology (w Olli Soikkeli, g, and Rob Hecht, violin on 5-6 cuts)

    Good...

    Re: Tuners for an F-9

I will see about the grease, thanks for the tip(s). I will post a front pic later. Just this am, the mandolin needed tweak tuning (G,D,A fell flat overnight) again. And turning the pegs, I feel real...

    Re: Tuners for an F-9

Nut or bridge slots are not the issue, as the mandolin was just re-fretted and a new Weber trad bridge was fitted/installed.

    Tuners for an F-9

    2015 Gibson F-9.

Tuners are a bit stiff and seem to slip a bit. What is a good replacement set?

I am such a case dog. Need it? no. Want it? Actually, not sure. Hiscox is boxy, to my ears. Nonetheless, sorely tempted. I am such a case dog.

Re: Pearl Nut - Low slots for G strings

I had a slightly diff issue with the original pearl nut on my Gilchrist. The E string slot(s) deepened over time, resulting in a buzz. I mitigated it for a period of time by dropping into the slot(s)...
