Re: New mandolin and selfmade accessories

I'm diggin' the action guage too! …. Just an observation here, but I noticed you stated your pick is made of a 'flexible' material. I have a 'The Loar' 600 (which I like), but seems barely audible...
  3. Re: What’s the hardest tune you can play on mandolin? (Or family)

Fairly recently I asked this same question … "that seems hard to play, is it?" (can't remember the player or the tune at the moment) but his answer was very motivating ..… "no, it's not hard to play...

"Who are the Custom Build Luthiers, that can build mandolins that can equal or outshine production models from the big boys?"

  7. Re: BlueChip folks -look at this pic and tell me which one to try

No offense intended, just a general observation.

I'm with you... dependent upon the type/thickness of hair that's being split, of course.:whistling: It's also astonishing to me that many (myself, previously included) will spend thousands of dollars...

    Re: Intonation Question

So, after a week or so of some fairly hard playing:

    1. I really like the EXP-75's, there is some tone and volume improvement, and they don't seem to be "tarnishing" as quickly where I brush my...

    Re: gibson F9 vs kentucky

Just some food for thought … I love my F5G (but it ain't no Gilchrist) ... in many of this type of discussions/ponderings, it seems many are comparing a variety of pac-rim brands/styles against...

Re: New favorite pick! Hawk SB over Bluechip CT55

I like PT's just fine, and keep several on hand ... but IMHO they're certainly no where near, "Just like the Blue Chips", in terms of wear, tone, glide or slippage.

Thanks for the replies ... I use the tape as well to mark position as a reference. The saddle wasn't switched on the bridge (I also use painters tape to keep them in position while its off the top)....

    Intonation Question

So, I've been using D'Addario EJ74s basically forever. A friend gave me a set of D'Addario EXP75's (coated) to try, stating that they made a huge difference on his Sam Bush.

    It was time for a...
