    Adieu to a friend

Forty-four years ago I purchased a Gibson F-5, Serial #A17518, from Stutzman's Guitar Center here in Rochester. My first (turned out to be my only) bluegrass band had just broken up, but I knew that...

Re: Weber Sweet Pea tailpiece design

Actually, the tailpiece was designed to keep the instrument cost down and to enhance player comfort. Because the Sweet Pea has such a small body, I felt that having a tailpiece stick up over the top...
  8. Leo Kottke on 10-string -- "William Powell"

I revisited this happy tune that seems to be about a debonair movie star. I'm using a flatpick and emulating Leo Kottke's finger-picking. Recorded with just my Shure KSM 32, this is another preview...

    LiuQin

The LiuQin is the closest Chinese instrument to the mandolin. I think one of the tunings they use is GDAE. I wonder if anyone has bought one either from an importer in the US or directly from China...

    Drunk at the party

    Hello everyone!

I just wanted to share with you a jazzy song for two mandolins and fake audience that I've written. It's been a lot of fun!

    Re: New bridge saddle

Another contributing reason is the sharp inside corner, where that top is relieved for the adjuster wheels, causing a stress riser. I now cut that to round, rather than a sharp corner, on my bridges.
