Doesn't have to be specifically for the Tenor Guitar. Because well, there aint no books out there for tenor guitar in Chicago tuning other than a few Chord books.
Looking for something all...
A simple adaptation. Either way, regardless of what others reasons were for tuning to the top four of a guitar. I have my own.
How does it "defeat the purpose"?
I can choose to do whatever I want with my instrument. And therefore use it for whatever purpose I desire. Just because an instrument is traditionally used for...
I finally got my hands on a brand spankin new Blue Ridge BR-40TCE which is an acoustic/electric version w/ a cutaway of the BR-40T.
Up till this point in time I had never played a Blue Ridge...
I own a Warren Ellis electric Tenor. Decent choice.
My number one recommendation: Go with "Chicago tuning". A D-G-B-E tuning. Like the top four of a guitar. First of all, the sound (in my opinon)...
Thats good to know. I dont think musicians friend does any kind of setup. I could be wrong. I could always call or email and ask. But id imagine thats the reason your tenor had a buzz to begin with....
Where did you buy the instrument?
Most of what I understand is that when going from a more traditional tuning (CGDA or GDAE or w/e) to a "Chicago" style tuning (DGBE) one should try and find some heavier string gauges. Ive owned...
Well this is good to know. I just had a live chat with one of their sales associates and it wasn't the most helpful of conversations. Maybe ill have to just wait.
Looking at getting a Blue Ridge BR-40TCE, unfortunately because of the erratic supply ad demand of this instrument and it being out of stock from places like Elderly, The only place I can get a...
Looks like I can get a BR-40TCE from Instrument alley for a decent enough price (not as cheap as elderly, but elderly is out of stock).
Unfortunately I dont think instrument alley does any setup....
Saw that for sale just now. Decent price. I just found another BR-40T that was recently price dropped but it doesnt come with a case.
What're we talking in terms of differences between the40 and...
Very cool. Thanks.
Is that the pick up that the BRTCE comes with? I remember seeing some fishman pick up in one before. Is that the particular pickup you'd recommend?
I myself am currently looking for a BR-40T to buy. I keep finding these old videos / adverts of them in the $400's, but the best I can find at the moment is in the mid 500's, most of which being out...
What brand of singles do you prefer?
Thanks, that was helpful.
You're suggesting I try out those gauges? (in the first set). Maybe order them as individual strings, instead of a set..
The southwest US.
The thing is when you throw out the word "Custom", what you're really saying is more money. Unfortunately more money is not what I have With a budget around 500$ firm I have a...

What about this???
Been lookin at the Blueridge BR-40T, and the GoldTone TG-18.
Both of these are just a tad out of budget, but it might be worth it to spend the extra for a new instrument. I've been through three...
Im thinking this. But with just a flat surface and some low grit paper. The only problem is the neck is bowed a bit, and if I bring down the bridge I might risk having the strings hitting multiple...
I was considering this, I actually just watched a video of somebody doing this to a harmony 6 string. My only concern is that if I attempt this the action might be low enough to create a buzz, or a...
Now that ive played it more, theres a little issue going on. around 7 - 10 frets, it starts to hit other frets while playing. not a very tasteful sound. I think if i lowered the action by un-screwing...
Like you said it mightve been a quick fix to sand down the saddle, but being that its brass or w/e it is. Its seems much more difficult to go at the bridge to lower the action
