    Re: Repair frustration

Based on what you guys are saying I'm bringing it back. I personally think when I had a new bridge fit a couple years ago they sanded the base too short but everyone that looks at it says it's fine....

    Re: Repair frustration

That's been the problem. This is the third guy to say they can do mandolins and obviously don't. At least one of the 3 I figured out before bringing it in.

    Repair frustration

So my 1999 Flatiron A has been giving me buzz issues for a while so I finally brought it in to a really well respected luthier at a guitar store in CT. He said the end of the fretboard wasnt level so...

Re: Punch Brothers "Hell on Church Street"

I am absolutely loving this album. I love the original album as well. If you try and compare this to the original you will likely be quite disappointed. If you listen to this as what it is, a...

    Re: Punch brothers

I'm a huge Punch Bros fan but I've gotta say, when I first heard this I thought it was "meh" compared to the Tony Rice version. Then it came on again and I liked it a little more. Now, after a few...

    Re: Bela at Carnegie Hall

Yeah I had to get tix. For first row of the dress circle on the house right side. So pumped. I was bummed that bela wasn't going to bring the my bluegrass heart show east with either of the bands...

    Thile can't chop chords

Haha, of course he can, one of the best ever. But, my question is, does he always play chords? It kind of looks like sometimes, when he's doing fast/aggressive/syncopated chopping, he doesn't really...

Would take the tension off the strings while it is left in the car help at all? Seems like if there is nothing pulling if the glue heats up there is less chance for damage. This is mainly a fishing...

Re: Best bet on a road trip

Thanks for all the advice. Still not sure which route to go. A cooler big enough to store a mandolin in its case would take up too much real estate in my car. There will be a few days at a time where...

Best bet on a road trip

Looking for a little advice. I have 3 mandolins. A Michael Kelly A solid that is all solid, has a decent tone but is lacquered to death, as seems to be the case with a lot of cheap imports. A 1940...

    Re: Michael Kelly label question

I have an A-Solid I bought in 2004 from Folk of the Wood. Maybe 2 or 3 years ago I had a question about it and emailed them. They were quick to respond. I'd email that pic to the company and ask, bet...

So I compared the course spacing on it to the spacing on the Michael Kelly and have and it's noticeably wider. Gonna get a new nut and see how that goes.

    1 1/16" fret advice

So I have a Nashville made Flatiron A that I love but am having some issues with because of the narrow neck. I don't have big hands so didn't think this would be much of an issue but am having a lot...

    Quarantine Remote Group Recording

My buddy tried to get a bunch of people he knew to record parts to a song he wrote, all on their own, from home. I added a little basic mando (so there is mando content). Just a fun little project....

Re: Using a DI and Preamp

The preamp I'm getting has a 1/4" balanced out so my plan is to get a 1/4" to male XLR. Then down the line may get an amp for monitor use. Its nice, the preamp has a reverb setting on it but has an...

I may get some kind of amp to use as a monitor but its really the mixing board part that I'm curious about.
