    Re: Unusual Electric Tenor/Mandolin/Uke

Nice looking instrument but the string spacing at the bridge is inconsistent. The space between the 2 and 3 strings is larger than the space between the 1 and 2 strings and the 3 and 4 strings.

Re: Fender Tele Tenor at NAMM

That would make sense from a business perspective, but it would certainly create a lot of ill will towards Fender in the tenor guitar community.

    Re: New Tenor guitar

It looks good to me but I'm primarily a bass player so I'm used to the bridge being at the end of the body. :mandosmiley:
  4. Re: Rough and ready ... quick and dirty, electric conversion.

Nice job! A 21 inch scale electric tenor is impossible to find, so you might be flooded with requests. Watch out! :mandosmiley:

Re: Fender Tele Tenor at NAMM

 This doesn't make any sense from a business standpoint. Fender was literally selling these tenor guitars faster than they could make them. My best guess is there was a management change...

    Re: Soares'y Electric Tenor

I got one of the last Warren Ellis 2Ps with the 2 mini-humbuckers (no trem, made in Korea). It is a great sounding guitar. I always receive complements on my tone when I play it. I'm not sure why...

Re: Ibanez AVN1 in Chicago tuning?

I use the top four strings from John Pearse 650LM Bluegrass strings ( https://www.stringsandbeyond.com/john-pearse-acoustic-guitar-strings-650lm-bluegrass-12-56.html ) for Chicago tuning on my...

    Re: Soares'y Electric Tenor

That tenor strat looks much better than the conversions he used to do. I looked at his tenor guitars before I bought my Warren Ellis 2P but it was very obvious that they were converted 6 string...
  9. Re: Is the wait for the Fender Tenor Telecaster worth it?

I love my Warren Ellis 2P (made in Korea) for playing lead lines. I have big hands so the wide string spacing helps me not hit the wrong string. For strumming though I use my Blueridge BR-60T which...
  10. Re: Is the wait for the Fender Tenor Telecaster worth it?

The Eastwood tenorcaster costs $100 more and also won't ship until November. The Eastwood tenorcaster also has the Warren Ellis (wide) string spacing. The Warren Ellis 1P is available now but costs...

Re: Fender Tele Tenor at NAMM

Expected shipping date is now being listed as September 18. The blue is sold out everywhere I looked. I didn't know you could sell out during the pre-order phase. Sweetwater is indicating the...
  12. Re: Total new guy intro and how to tune my new Eastwood WE tenor

It is possible to tune a six string in fifths, but its rare. Forming chords on a six string tuned in fifths is difficult. Robert Fripp uses CGDAEG (instead of CGDAEB) which is close to tuning in...
  13. Re: Total new guy intro and how to tune my new Eastwood WE tenor

One of the reasons the tenor guitar is making a resurgence is that it can be played in many different ways (CGDA, GDAE, DGBE, as well as several open tunings). The versatility of the instrument is...
  14. Re: Best middle or lower-priced tenor guitar?

The Ibanez Fox referenced is probably your best bang for the buck. I love my Blueridge BR-60T, but the Ibanez has a solid sitka spruce top, has good sound, and is half the price of the BR-60T.
  15. Re: Why the price jump/scarcity on Blueridge tenors?

You are correct, Musicians Friend doesn't do a setup. When I bought mine the listed price was $499 but I bought during December when they were having a 25% off Christmas sale.
  16. Re: Acoustic Tenor Guitar and Low Tension String Recommendations

Having lower tension strings shouldn't damage the guitar at all. The lower tension strings just won't bring out the full sound of the instrument.
  17. Re: Why the price jump/scarcity on Blueridge tenors?

I bought my BR-60T four years ago from Musicians Friend for $375. I just checked the Musicians Friend website and the listed price is $895. Musicians Friend is currently offering 20% off which...
  18. Re: Acoustic Tenor Guitar and Low Tension String Recommendations

When I was looking at setting my BR-60T up for DGBE, Saga Music (makers of Blueridge) assured me via email that the BR-60T could easily handle 100 total lbs. of tension. As Fox stated, the Blueridge...
  19. Re: Why the price jump/scarcity on Blueridge tenors?

I play a BR-60T tuned DGBE. I use 12 gauge Bluegrass strings (top 4 strings of the set) and had to have the guitar setup by a luthier to get rid of fret buzz. You will probably have to have the...

Re: Fender Tele Tenor at NAMM

At $100 less than the Eastwood Tenorcaster ($499.99 vs. $599.00) it should definitely give Eastwood some competition. I realize the standard guitar string spacing on the Fender is different than the...

    Tenor Guitar in New Zealand

I'll be in Auckland, New Zealand for the month of February. Does anybody know of a place where I could rent a tenor guitar for the month? I don't trust the airlines to get my Blueridge BR-60T to...

Re: Tenor guitar on a budget

Good luck with your search. Buying a guitar is a very personal decision. The "right" guitar for one person may not be the right guitar for someone else. I started with laminate top guitars but...

Re: Tenor guitar on a budget

Timely update: A Gold Tone TG-18 was just advertised in the Mandolin Cafe classifieds for $325 including gig bag. The TG-18 has a solid wood top. I have no financial interest, but for $325 I would...

Re: Tenor guitar on a budget

Of the three listed the Ibanez AVT1 is the only one with a solid wood top. You want a guitar with a solid wood top, so buy the Ibanez AVT1. I love my Blueridge BR-60T, but I would never pay $895.00...

Re: Kala Tenor Guitar, DGBE string gauges?

Any 0.012 guitar string set should work well. If you find that to be too light due to the 21 inch scale, you can always go up to a 0.013 string set. I use 0.012 string sets for my 23 inch scale...
