Re: Always surprised how people send stuff

I recently bought a mandola. It was shipped in its case (a darn sturdy and heavy one) which was wrapped in about 5 layers of bubble wrap, shipping label on that. Came through without any problems or...

Re: Sellerís Remorse - 2008 custom Weber Fern

No help to you, Kevin, but I suspect there are a lot of folks on this forum with similar stories. I’m one. I had a Collings MT2O that had been used as a battle axe, or something. A guitar repair guy...

    Re: Disappointment

Chapter 2. I consulted with a pretty well known luthier, showed him some pics and described what I saw. His opinion is that it doesn't need a neck reset at all. He said a planing and refret look...

    Disappointment

Well, I had a disappointing experience today. There was a local ad for a '77 Givens A style mandolin for $2500. The headstock inlay indicated it was probably an A5 and the ad owner said it was in...
  10. Re: Write-by-forum bluegrass tune - Chime in here!

Sorry. Don't agree. Most songs come from something we have seen, heard, experienced, imagined, or just plain made up. Something causes the inspiration. I think this was started to stimulate...

Re: tone guard for big muddy jumbo

Tony does make 2 different mandola Tone Gard. His S style fits a Weber which is what I got. Don’t know the size of the other one. But you might want to reach out to him again about a Dola Gard.

    Re: Affordable 10 string mandolin/mandola?

Thanks. I agree. Bruce was able to get .12's to work with E5 but, broke some in the process. I have found that D5 works just fine and is close to the tuning I used for my cittern. So, I am making...

    Re: Affordable 10 string mandolin/mandola?

I forgot to add that Bruce also put on a new nut and planed and re-fretted. The fret board work wasn't necessary right now but the truss rod was maxed out and it would have been needed sooner rather...

A little more back story: When I talked to Bruce he said it is normal to have a little top leveling, especially with a 10 stringer. He put a new...

    Re: Affordable 10 string mandolin/mandola?

    Re: Montana mandolin field trip

Circling back to the OP I just want to add that Bruce Weber is simply WONDERFUL! I acquired a 5 course mandola that he built in 2010 and sent it back to him for evaluation and a few minor tweaks and...
