They sound good. Not like a traditional instrument but still good. The copper top ones sound better then solid CF. The plan was to make and sell them but there's not a huge demand for CF mandolins....

It's mostly cosmetic with so hope to soften the sound a bit with the dense material. I'm still working to get a sound clip posted as soon as I can find someone willing to test drive it,lol

Fscotte, after in-molding, there's nothing to shave down or re-shape. Trial and error is what I had to work with. For those of you who are concerned if it sounds like a wooden mandolin...FYI it...

Yes twill all over. The top layer on the top only was hand cut and flipped over 180 degrees to give the chevron look.

The entire surface is covered with a clear finish so that the copper won't oxidize.

I named this one "Copper Head". The second in the copper series has copper wire CF hand cut into a chevron pattern. It also has a new logo design, new Allen tail piece and aged tuning pegs. K&K...

Thanks for the reply Ivan. All my laminates are done via vacuum pressure to avoid problems with oxidation. This is the tailpiece that I decided to go with, classy without being flashy......

No the copper is covered with thin epoxy then will be finished with high gloss clear. Was looking not to upstage the copper with the hardware. I like the aged look of this patina and tuners.

Ooo wow, the patina is beautiful. I love it. Do you see this one matching the relic nickel tuners with black buttons from Stewmac?
