  1. Re: looking to move, but I have no clue where ?.

I guess I would prioritize my needs first. Get the operation over with, from a doctor/hospital you like. THEN, after you are healed, ask yourself:
    1. Do I need to be close to kids/grandkids? Or...
  2. Re: Sellerís Remorse - 2008 custom Weber Fern

Good luck with your search, Kevin. Hopefully, it will work out.

I smiled at the above quote, thinking of the early days of the internet and how an ex-girlfriend from college, from 35 YEARS...

Re: what is the best selling mandolin

I second the $50 Rogue? Just guessing.......due to price, a lot are sold. Same with Squier stratocasters --- they are everywhere, again due to price. But, in both cases, best selling is not always...

    Re: Disappointment

It's a tough call, especially since you can't hear it until you spend the money -- cost of mandolin plus repairs. If it turns out great, it could be a bargain, both soundwise and...

    Re: Woodstock

A former boss had a similar story. They left Ohio for Woodstock, got halfway there, found out Dylan wasn't playing and turned around and came back home. For years he had his unused tickets framed...

Re: Cleaning up an old bowl back

When loosening or tightening mandolin strings, wear eye protection or keep your head turned. Sounds like overkill, but strings often break and have hooked themselves in people's eyes.........FWIW.

I know how you feel.......when my 12th birthday was approaching, someone advertised in our local paper, a 1957 Chevy for sale for $50........I begged and begged, pushing the angle of a father/son...

  10. Re: A likely contentious opinion on electric mandolins

Aside from the fingering, I also think they sound like a capoed electric guitar.....

But, they look a lot cooler than a capoed electric guitar....

And the fingering somewhat dictates the...

    Re: Starting Left-handed or right

When I took lessons over 50 years ago, there was no choice, learn right-handed even if you are left-handed......now people are more open to the question....

Whatever you decide, just stick with it...

Amazing condition for being 43 years old!

A little flashy for my tastes, but looks like quality work.

  16. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

If the tuners and pickups were replaced they could be used as a normal electric guitar. Pretty simple stuff.

Some active guitars use passive pickups and are only active in the sense that the eq...

    Re: General Mandolin Post

    Hi Joe,
You are correct. It doesn't have to be perfect to sound good or play ok. Nobody knows that better than professional musicians, who often neglect or delay maintenance on their instruments....

Re: mayhem in the music room

It is also smart business to turn a refund into a sale, IMHO.

Plus, the customer receives a new instrument, rather than a repaired one. :)

    Re: Gibson tenor guitar neck

You could stick it on a The Loar archtop body and have HALF a 1932 Gibson tenor! Hopefully, a playable half....

Granted, you would also have more in it than it would be worth......

    Re: Waterloo Mandolin Released

As I mentioned before, I think the Waterloo mandolin looks very nice.

One thing I learned is, you can't make a "new" buyer into a "vintage" buyer or vice versa. Separate markets with separate...
