Re: A7 chord out of tine

GCEA has been an alternate tuning for "tenor" guitars and banjos forever. I am a long time uke player and have no reason to learn other tunings. So far, the only problem is the "glitchy" A7 chord. I...

    Re: 4-string acoustic?

I have plans to set up my mandolin as a 5 string (double 1@2). I also recently acquired a crafter 4 string 'cavaquinho', which is converted from their acoustic electric mandolin. I am pondering...

Re: Mandolin 8 string or 4 string

Ever try, or consider using both E strings?
  8. Re: Another CRAFTER mando (4 string cavaquinho mod)

PS: Just tuned 3rd string to low C without problem, 2 to E and 1 to A. 4th string high G (sounds fine) but will install low g string for gcEA tuning.
  9. Another CRAFTER mando (4 string cavaquinho mod)

Just picked up an old "NEW" crafter cavaquinho which is merely their mando with a cut down headstock and 4 strings. Nut and saddle still reflect where 8 strings go. It's acoustic electric and the...

I'm confused...which string for the C strings for gCEA tuning?
  12. Re: Possible to convert 8-string Mandocaster to 4-string?

I'd suggest you set it up like a 5 or 6 string uke, regardless, with just 2 or 4 strings paired. I just thought of it...I have a mando kit and I think I just solved my own problems.

Looking at alternative use for an inexpensive adjustable mando armrest like the ones on ebay...i.e. banjo uke. How far will these things open? How thick a body will they accommodate?
