    As per Joe Spann, Gibson owed Virzi $1486 in 1927 presumably for Virzi violins which they were marketing. Looks like the right time period and would explain "virzi" on the label.

    I had one years ago. As far as I know, he didn't build very many of the 3 point McReynolds models. Mine was one of the first and I sold it back to John's son Barry, who is active in the music scene...
