    Re: Warm up song

I like to do some Mike Marshall Finger Busters, right and left hand for starters. He's got some playalong ones on ArtistWorks that I currently like, because I like playing along. After that, a song...
  2. Re: Advice/Suggestions on characteristics of an ideal mandolin st

That's a great design, then, the way the two ends act as a fail safe! Thanks for showing that, Will.
  3. Re: Advice/Suggestions on characteristics of an ideal mandolin st

Some interesting points here. This is a good topic.

I've heard of some leather itself affecting the finish of the mando, but hadn't thought about the dye. I wonder how available the...

Re: This weeks mandolin that won't get a bid or buyer

At that price, shipping is part of the price. You can call it free ...

When I was doing Ebay, I never wanted to do the free shipping thing, because you'd have to calculate for the highest...

Re: Always use a strap? Even when seated?

I've got more straps than I do instruments, and, being somewhat of a fiber artist, I'm thinking seriously about getting into making some. ;)
Cotton and/or paracord macrame, and maybe leather.

    Re: Another newcomer

That just demonstrates why you need both.

If one is being worked on, you need another mandolin to play :mandosmiley:
  11. Re: Strap for a Strad-ol-Lin? There's no strap button.

I don't like the idea of drilling holes, either, but respect whatever choice a person makes. On my Strad-O-Lin, I have the strap threaded through the tailpiece and (currently) under the fretboard...

Re: This weeks mandolin that won't get a bid or buyer

I get offers for extended warranties on my 2005 Ford Freestyle all the time. If it's good for a rustbucket SUV, why not a nice looking vintage mando?

Re: Jug Band Music in New England

Had a close encounter with a Boston area jug band musician the other day when I sold a vintage exercise bike to a member of the Busted Jug Band. He's planning on making it into a seated, pedal...

Re: I went and did it!

So, Sheila, I don't see a guitar on your list. Your guitar doesn't have a name yet? Or (heaven forbid!) the guitar's too plain-vanilla to rate a name !?!

  22. Re: Advice on buying a new mandolin? Been playing for 15+yrs

I don't think you could go wrong with a Big Muddy (Mid Mo). I've got an M-15 mandola I bought in your price range that I love (<$500). I also have a Strad-O-Lin mandolin I bought <$300 that is my...
  23. Re: Need help identifying a problem with my mandolin

I bought a Mid Mo mandola with a loose brace. It did not turn out to be an expensive fix.

Re: Carl C Anderson Flat Back 1899

You have to wonder what the person who actually won was willing to pay, though. The price could've jumped quick. I thought about it as well, as I don't have enough deserving cases and am always...
