That is real pretty
I play in a band that does bluegrass/gospel for Catholic Masses.
A solo depends on the song and where in the Mass the song is being done.
For example, we do the number "I Have Decided to Follow...
Very nice.
When I see some of the left hand positions I'm reminded why I don't play classical guitar any more.
It makes a 'G' or 'D' 'chop' fingering look easy. :whistling:
Brossard picks sells some made from wood. Usually a very hard wood (ebony or rosewood) along with bone and various other materials.
I've used on electric guitar where the low volume can be made...
When we play in churches with my band and they don't have a PA I bring a small PA consisting of:
2 Kustom PA-50 powered speakers ($79.95 each @ guitar center)
1 Behringer 1202FX mixer (got for $40...
We saw them here in St Louis Saturday night. Outstanding show.
I come from the same background. I've played guitar for 45 years (gawd, I'm getting old), have played jazz, folk & rock. Playing mandolin for the last 5 years has improved my guitar playing...
My son (17) is an outstanding cello player. He also plays viola & violin (classical). He's tried my Fender bass (sorry, not an upright) but can't get over the 4th tuning.
One thing to note (and...
:whistling:
Yes. Though some of the beats can be interesting for a short time.
The history of music has other examples of this. In classical look into the disagreements when the (gasp) piano was introduced (it's just hammers hitting strings) and the harpsichord was minimized. ...
Survey worked for me :whistling:
Picks with the name of a heavy metal guitarist.
Small world... :whistling:
We use Kustom PA 50's. I can get get for $79.95 each at guitar center. I've got 6 - two are spares.
That and a small 8-channel Behringer mixer that I got for $40 on eBay, 4 mic stands from...
In cases.
I've got two dogs. The small one is not a problem but the labrador has a tail that when it wags can be a lethal weapon (and she wags a lot)...
;)
I've noticed the same thing. After playing solely on mandolin for a while my guitar playing is much better.
Doesn't seem to work the other way though.
For my backpack (for mandolin & guitar) I carry:
spare strings,
string cutter/winder,
needle-nose pliers,
tuner,
batteries for tuner & pre-amps,
spare 1/4 cables for times plugging in,
a mic...
Tens? Where are you getting these high-paying gigs? :whistling:
Amen. I used to teach (guitar) in a previous life. We always started on acoustic. I had kids quit because they couldn't rock-out on electric right-away. I would have them have them plug-in...
The Behringer is a nice unit.
I went even a little cheaper.
When we play in churches with my band and they don't have a PA I bring a small PA consisting of:
2 Kustom PA-50 powered speakers...
I've got an MK that I picked up on Craigslist for $40. I must be lucky - for me it's a very nice instrument. :mandosmiley:
I agree, playing before buying is usually a good idea. I don't always...
I've got this one. Some nice arrangements.
I started on guitar in '73. We had an old reel-to-reel tape machine that could be slowed down to ½ speed. Helped to learn things but as it was an octave lower and slower there were (ahem) issues...
I play in two church groups.
In the 1st we're mostly praise-n-worship with Catholic music. For this I'm mostly guitar with mandolin on ~10% of songs - usually something with a Celtic feel.
The...
