Peterson are fantastic when it comes to tuners. Highly recommended. The stroboclip does not show the octave however.
Not sure how one would use a tuna' fork to tune a mandolin, but I hear banjo...
I've done bevels on guitars - here's a recent pic from my workbench (since we're doing a show & tell )
For an arch top mando there's a couple problems that I can think of.
- The soundboard...
The main show stopper that I found trying to ship a guitar to the US about a month ago was that no carrier would insure it unless you are paying well in excess of £1k for shipping.
I believe a few...
Thank you - sounds like 650-685 is the range then. Need to measure the blanks are long enough before committing to 685 though.
Is there a practical benefit in using individual guitar tuning...
On a serious note, would you say there's a big difference between 685 and 660 scale length for a mandocello, and would 660 work reasonably well?

Don't all rush to reply at once by the way
Having just re-strung my mando, the only downside of a 5-course that I can see is that there's an extra course to string up and keep in...
Howdy folks.
I am starting to build a couple octave mandos and can't decide whether to go for 1 4-course and 1 5-course, or just make two 5-course ones. Both will be about 56cm scale length, so...
Howdy folks,
Hoping for some advice on building A-style mandos.
I usually build flat-top guitars, but I have recently strung up my first Loar-style "A" mando in the white and I am very pleased...
