  1. Re: Items stolen from David Grisman's gig last night

Yeah, serial numbers might be helpful.

I'm local and can put the word out to musician friends (non-mando players...) and a buddy who has a recording studio with contacts in that world.
    And I'll...

Re: Advice for first classified ad

I read the classifieds at least twice a day - kind of a hobby…

Seems basic, but don’t forget to put the price.

I currently have 2 Givens mandolins - #131 (brown one) and #631 (black top). It's interesting to have 2 mandolins from the same builder - 500 mandolins apart.

+1 on that. You could even incorporate double stops, inversions, different fingerings, and rhythmic changes to make backup more interesting.

I was talking with Greg Boyd about this a few years ago - he was on a roll and really got going on this topic...

    Re: Frank Wakefield

“who else should I be listening to?“
Bill Monroe - Bush, Grisman, Wakefield all listened to Bill Monroe. It all goes back to Mr Monroe.

“They don’t get pampered but they are respected.”

Re: What's the big deal about changing strings?

Two things factor in this for me:

    1) I'm busy (not to imply that you are not...I don't know). Wife, daughter, career, adult responsibilities (taking care of house, vehicles, etc.) playing mandolin...
