    Re: My new mando!

This may seem like an odd observation but my impresion looking at the A was it would be a darker instrument. I don't have any reason to think that.

    Re: staining

I'm not sure where I am going with this currently just a notion. I like how violin tops are done and just thinking out loud a bit, wondering what you all may have tried.

Re: A New Pick For Slick?

Practice tremolo with the pointy pick. A loose grip and wrist is a must, it is a good exercise.

Re: A New Pick For Slick?

Exactly why I have three picks and use every little corner or edge/end it has. Sadly not too many people I know can hear the difference. Sometimes I think we spend to much time chasing these slight...

    Re: Photographing shiny things

I tend to photograph figure in wood if at all possible in the AM and PM before too much sunlight is coming straight in. I love the just over the horizon afternoon light on a clear day.

    Re: Right Hand Technique

I did a couple things to help my hand strength and ability to manipulate the pick. One was I use those Chinese balls you roll around in your hand. Two I hold the pick in my hand and practice...

Re: A New Pick For Slick?

I know right! it is funny how the tip shape and material makes so much of a difference more so than I ever noticed on a guitar. In my picture, the BG Jazz shape is quickly becoming a favorite shape...

Re: 1915 Gibson A Pickguard issue

Not a job for a beginner or the impatient! I would have been inclined to try heat as well but I did not know they were that long or at an angle. I have had some projects where something similar took...

    Re: Shade Tree Mando Repair

A few years ago I was in a hotel and flipping channels whichever state I was in the public station had someone on with their bass and it was asked, Hey wat's that on the side. Looked a lot like your...

    Re: Tonegards

Well, I didn't expect such a debate. I was just really curious if the people who use them still like them and if they did any finish damage. I never leave a tuner on it goes on gets tuned and comes...

    Re: What's up with USPS?

My old roommate in the Marines is a Post Master now. He tells me their biggest customer is, UPS. Crazy isn't it.
  17. Re: How do you test the qualities you're looking for in a Mandoli

Scales up the neck and across the neck up high. Softly struck and moderately struck and hard struck notes. If it holds a good resonant tone then I pick a few choice notes and check sustain and a few...

    Re: What's up with USPS?

I find they routinely screw up but in these cases, if they came through my neck of the woods and I would not be surprised if they did we had some awful weather up here and south. Sioux Falls had...

Re: A New Pick For Slick?

I'm not sure how I would describe it but maybe kind of like a change in the attack. I know of people who use round picks. In my picture above I have used the pointy end the rounded corner and the...

I have found some of the descriptions used only make sense after you hear them. Then it's like a light bulb in my head, oh that's what they meant! It would be nice if one of these places with a nice...

I knew some guys who would use Grolsch bottle seals. Did I spell that right? So why does yours pop off? A worn Hole on the leather? The way you hold and play? Something else? I have some of the...

    Re: 2019 Tune-A-Week Project
