    Re: Tuners for an F-9

I will see about the grease, thanks for the tip(s). I will post a front pic later. Just this am, the mandolin needed tweak tuning (G,D,A fell flat overnight) again. And turning the pegs, I feel real...

    Re: Tuners for an F-9

Nut or bridge slots are not the issue, as the mandolin was just re-fretted and a new Weber trad bridge was fitted/installed.

    Tuners for an F-9

    2015 Gibson F-9.

Tuners are a bit stiff and seem to slip a bit. What is a good replacement set?
  7. Re: Hiscox Mandolin Case with Colorado Case on eBay

I am such a case dog. Need it? no. Want it? Actually, not sure. Hiscox is boxy, to my ears. Nonetheless, sorely tempted. I am such a case dog.

Re: Pearl Nut - Low slots for G strings

I had a slightly diff issue with the original pearl nut on my Gilchrist. The E string slot(s) deepened over time, resulting in a buzz. I mitigated it for a period of time by dropping into the slot(s)...

I like this one. Sonic difference, in this case? Doubtful, but maybe.

    Re: Peace

And for the 2 E chords, I would do 4-6-7-4 and lose the little 'x' above the E string. Just my 2 centavos :)

    Re: Peace

Cool idea. I would suggest losing the fret # designations (5,7,10) and adding in the single dots (middle column) for those frets.

I dig this one - Brekke, Weber trad bridge

Re: Thoughts on the Gibson F9?

Just picked up a 2015 F-9, signed by David Harvey. Good tone, good feel, easy playing, lightweight - all the things I like. Needs some fret care and likely will get a Weber trad bridge installed.

    New (to me) Flatiron A5-1

Picked up a clean, well-preserved A model Flatiron, 1984 Carlson signed. It's the 2nd Flatiron I've owned, first was a 1985 F-5 Artist, also Carlson. Came with the original warranty card, imagine...

    Re: A Pointless Repair

Somewhat curious as to how the case is the culprit. What kind of case was this? btw, I have a Northfield Recurve case I'll be putting up in the ads shortly. Good, lightweight, protective case.

    Re: Old Ebenezer Scrooge format?

The lovely and talented Lou Martin noted out a very faithful reading of Bill's playing on this tune, in an old Acoustic Musician. The up-front preamble is fun to read.

    Re: Old Ebenezer Scrooge format?

Awesome to once again listen to the Master of Bluegrass take, from 1980, when Uncle Bill was nearing 70 years of age. He plays it four times through with power and finesse - no hand-off to any other...

Re: A question about floating pickguards

Diff schools of thought on 'floating' pickguards. Charlie Derrington crafted this one; he was a firm believer in a side bracket, even on abbreviated guards.

    Re: East Tennessee Blues

[QUOTE=mbruno;1733086]I've always been a fan of Steffey's version

    Adam plays it beautifully here.

And post #7 is a diff tune.
