It may even have been taken in the 1910-1915 era... we really don't know (but would love to find out!). There's a full shot (small & large) of the entire DMO, V. 1, at our website in the Photography...

#5 was well-received here, Victor, and muchas gracias! I'm looking forward to adding this to the mix -- and letting my quartet choose which we do when (once we get through them all!). I do like to be...

Speaking of Labellas... any latest word, Ted, on L's for mandola? I've been holding off changing my 'dola strings, as I'm eager to try out those new sets coming down the pike.

I'm particularly fond of Suite #3 (and, of course, they're all great stuff), which is a fun left-hand workout on mandocello. It almost seems too tame on mandolin (in any key), after wrestling with...
Joska's become a favorite with my chamber group. I did an arrangement of Blaze Away for DMO last year. (I probably shouldn't be surprised that it had been arranged before; I originally found it in...
What is (generally or specifically) known about J. Joline -- anyone? I've checked my resources at hand and have come up with nothing about (assuming:) him. Bonsoir, Marion is the only piece we have...
Raising hand: Alto-clef 'dola player here.

Some of these pieces have started making the MO rounds lately: Bloomfield (NJ) picked up...
'Don Armando' and 'Rataplan' are both on our Creole Belles CD. Like Yvonne says, very audience- and musician-friendly material.

I'll toss in what we have here in Dayton -- which, granted, isn't as voluminous as our older compatriots' orchestras, but then again, we begin our third season next month, and we started from...
Ted, my 17"-scale TC 'dola is 24" straight-line from center of the next-to-nut C/A post to endpin; 27" straight-line from farthest-from-nut G/D to endpin. I have about 1" bare between winding string...
Neat Comet, Dave! (I wonder if a mandocello would be an asteroid in this other-worldly configuration...) #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Bringing this to the fore as a reminder. I'm told a limited number of seats are still available! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I picked up a viola stand at my local Sam Ash (for about half what it's listed at their national website). It has a very small stage footprint; holds my mandolin, mandola, octave or bowlback...
