Alan, Oh yeah! Anthony and boys were in top form. Really sang great and very funny between songs - #a classic Vegas-style show. The gig was at a casino in Oroville, Ca. They did a few tunes that were...
Just wondering how many of you veer off the bluegrass track to other genres of music. Myself? Just played a gig backing up Little Anthony and the Imperials on bass.

I tried to delete the subject, but all I did was delete my original post. Anwyway... Sorry to put a redundant subject out here... been away awhile... I'm just so jazzed about this Youtube!! I'm glad...
Would be interesting to know the thinking behind the removal the 'The' back in '34. What was that meeting like? Starting to remind me of 'Clintonspeak' ("ahh sir,...the answer to that question...
Oh My Gawd!! I'm 52 and it gets worse and worse for me. I think I inherited this thing from my mom. She lives only a mile away and breaks down when she's saying goodbye to me on the phone...and I'm...
Wow... Ira, that really works!... and we can credit Dr. Johnny Fever and his cutting edge radio show in Cinncinnati for paving the way for the rest us to enjoy freedom of speech on airwaves...!
Well, thanks everyone for your input. It's getting better, mainly by slowing down and working on training my brain to execute correctly... Speaking of the brain and the body's internal wiring.... try...
Hey Scott...the mandocafe is such a great resource for so many mandolin players! I bought my first 'high end' mando through your classifieds and have gleaned so much info off the message boards......
Here's the problem... when I downstroke across, say, the A string, second fret (B)... and my next note is picked on the upstroke, on the D string, 5th fret (G)... my pick, while coming back across...
AlanN,
Now that I think again about it... I guess Joe said he knew you, but hadn't seen you... he had seen Scott Tichenor, whom I also did not meet... Oh well...It was fun to meet Joe and Charlie...
Big Joe,
It was great to meet you at IBMA. I've been a fan of yours and Charlie's since becoming a patron of the Cafe a few years back. I got to meet Charlie too... he asked me if I'd care to play...
Hey everyone... Just got back from Mexico with my 'beater' and checked out all the latest here on this thread. Chuck, bummer about your rodless mando. I immediately checked mine, and it did come with...
Scooped it out! I got up the nerve and brought over a 12 pack of Pale Ale to my buddy with the tools, and together we chisled and sanded away for about an hour and BINGO... scooped fingerboard! No...
Wow, the idea of scooping out the fretboard myself is a little scary, but I think I'll give it a go. Sounds like removing the frets is easy enough - I'll be real careful with the scooping.

Greg, mine is from China... I bought a $40.00 Feather Lite case for it.
My only real issue regarding the playing is the clicky-clicky sound from my pick. My main mando (Randy Wood) has a scooped...
Here are some pix of my Epiphone... it's sounding good and, I think you'll agree, looking good too... Kim

Hey Bruce B
I got the mando from Dawg just the way you see it. I've assumed that it came that way from Randy. (I think #his website shows mandolins with the scooped fretboard...)
My daughter...
Checking further in MF, I find now that this mando is for sale for $424.99 and is no longer called a 'refurb', but a "blem" MM50. Check 'em out here:

I was so intrigued with a post on a different thread which highly recommends 'The Epiphone'. There's a link to Musician's Friend where I found MM-50 'refurbs' going for $219. Big Joe has written that...
Hey, yes I have an RW A5 too. it's a 2000 model and I really love it. Got it from the Dawg on a trade for an F-4 which I hated to part with, but it just didn't cut it as a bluegrass instrument. These...
I bought a used Strawberry Blonde acoustic amp and really do love it. I'd tried out a few other amps and always got too much pick noise, especially when I would play a tremolo. The Strawberry Blonde...
