Love it! You've got a great sound, Daniel. Welcome to the Cafe.
After admiring Sonny Morris's mandolins through posts on the Cafe, I pulled the trigger and ordered #242. Flat cedar top, maple back & sides, radiused ebony fingerboard w/ a 1 3/16" nut and upgraded...
But...there are no dummies who play mandolin...
Our band, Susquehanna Travellers, opened for Robin and Linda Williams on March 9 at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York, PA. Robin and Linda are warm, delightful and amazingly talented...
Stunning. And you will be posting sound clips so we can all experience GOM-MAS, right?
Susquehanna Travellers from York, PA. I'm the one with the b***o. I also play a bowlback mandolin, (mandolin content requirement thus satisfied...)but we decided the b***o would be better for this...
Another example of what happens when the blueprints are upside-down.
That made my day!:))
Natasha, you will to keep playing sweety collectible piece of Soviet Guitar Industry, while I blow up moose and squirrel.
Then will pack them very well with much of foam-rubber.
I second the vote for www.emando.com. Martin Stillon puts together very affordable and useful sets.
Very nice!
I checked out the website; he does some beautiful work with inlays.
Outstanding; love the artificial harmonics you tossed in on "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".
I received "The Crow" CD by Steve Martin as a stocking stuffer from my wife; what an outstanding collection of music. It's a shame that more people do not appreciate his talent as a musician,...
That is an outstanding design and tone. Well done.
Actually, I don't tell my instruments how much I spend on my wife...
I'm sitting here in the home office, warm cup of fresh coffee nearby, snow is falling, Butch's "Mandolin Music for Christmas" is playing, dogs are curled up at my feet and I'm in my favorite Internet...
I'm on my 3rd Tele now and also received a Squier Modified Thinline from my wife as a birthday present last year (yeah, she's a keeper).
It's interesting to note several of the above responses...
That's a wonderful arrangement...is it your own? And if it is, may I shamelessly copy it?
Someday I'll have a Mann of my own. Hmmm...sounds like a song title...
Just received this today from a very good vendor on eBay:

Kentucky KM-180bc. From what I've read this was an early to mid 90s...
Thanks for the info.
And may I say, that is one of the best avatars I've seen!
Would you consider a ukulele tuned like a mandolin (GDAE)? It might be easier for an 11 year old to start on 4 single strings until he can develop the finger strength and dexterity to handle 4 paired...
Get a metronome and practice with that. I use an electronic one with about 24 tempos and a small light that flashes to the beat; I have found that to be invaluable in cleaning up my playing. I'll...
I opted for buying one and playing it vicariously through all of you.
Let me know how I like it.
Thanks, everyone. Looks like I'll be doing some woodshedding for the next couple of weeks.
Our church pastor told me he'd like to hear "Christmas Time's A-Coming" during one of our upcoming Christmas services. He's a good old boy from Tennessee so I'm not really surprised.
Any one have...
