    Re: Tenor Guitar Tuners NMC

I have never liked that style tuner.....a lot of folks insist on them on tenor guitars. I replaced the ones on my old Regal with some individual Waverly Uke tuners from StewMac and have been very...

    Re: Ebony mandolin

I never would have thought I would like that color for binding. But that is stunning. "It ties the room together".

    The whole instrument is beautiful.

Re: Not bad, I have seen worse

My first mandolin lessons were with Peter Ostroushko....sitting in his kitchen. We sat down the first time and he took my old Harmony mandolin. Looked at it and handed it back to me. And said...

Verify your clamping thickness......viola hardware might work. Might not. It did not work for mine.

Re: Where to buy armguard hardware

For mandola/mandocello/guitar. I got the last of what Cumberland had maybe three-five years ago. The barrels are the same but the longer, bent male threaded shafts are hard to find.

Re: Is my new mando trash?

In my experience it has been "yes", "no".......love or ambivalence. In the first thirty seconds. And no tweaking or changing is going to make enough of a difference. Is kind of like my love life....
  11. Re: Jan Johansson Tons of old BG concerts and interviews

I came across it because he (Johansson) had done an interview with Tony Rice earlier this year on that site. Not sure how I came across that, might have been referenced here on the Cafe. His voice...

If my pairs are ever within 5cents of each other even while I am tuning, let alone through half of one song...........it is strictly by dumb luck. I asked Peter Ostroushko something about that...

Re: Front porch furniture + mandolin

Punch up "Ice Cream Parlor" chairs........iron chairs with easily replaceable seats. I replaced mine with wood, painted them and just leave them sit in the weather.

    Re: Room Humidifier recs

Yep, like pops said....the room makes a huge difference. Cubic footage (not square footage) and how the room breathes. I know my controlled bedroom can drop from 45% to 35% in a little over an hour...

The 5gallon cabinet evaporatives that I have had all have had a float switch that turns off power completely when the water gets low. Shouldn't be an issue at all for that. The problem with most...

I need to add to this.....the external Dayton hygrometer works fine on older style evaporative models with knob controls. Mine died last spring (a motor froze up) and I replaced it with a newer one...
