    Re: New Project

    Thanks all. Way too kind.

Yeah, winter in WI is perfect for recording a record :) We'll see if Starr and I can work that out.

@usqebach, yup, that's my orange Kimble 2-point. It's kind of...

    Re: Duo playing?

I play in a duet, just mando and fiddle... so I can speak to this. As you've discovered, when playing in a duet, a chop doesn't cut it. I suggest to start listening to other instruments... guitar,...

    Re: New Duff

Also, I have a bunch of recordings of my old Duff on my youtube channel. It's also the only mando I used on my CD, Mrs Maxwell.

Here's the old Duff in action with some of them wacky Blue Grass...

    Re: New Duff

    Hey Olaf,

Paul retooled in late 2006... after taking calipers to Mike Compton's Gil, which is one hell of a mando. He then brought one of the new ones over to the States and had a bunch of folks...

    Re: New Duff

Mike, there is definitely a difference between an A and F... but I can't really define it in words either. I also find it hard to tell them apart on recordings... which some would argue makes them...

    Re: New Duff

My original orange duff (2007) has a wider nut (1 3/16th I think?) and radiused board. I've since gravitated toward thinner neck and flat board. The new one has Waverlys (which I love). The old Duff,...

Re: Curative Talk For a True Life - Discussion

I'm not sure why Sting's female relations are seen as cool and Monroe's blasphemous... but whatever.

Dick Smith's book is trash. If you like that sort of thing, great; he wrote it for you. While...

  25. Re: What is the best mandolin somebody handed you to play
