Re: Ciani mandolin really a Stradolin?

Somehow I couldn't see the buttons on firefox. So I shifted to Chrome. The second photo, if you can see it, is after I shaped the braces. You can see I was very conservative. (You might also notice...

Re: Ciani mandolin really a Stradolin?

A follow up. Got the mandolin. Basically in nice shape. The back had come off at some point and didn't align perfectly, probably because the body shifted a bit before it was put back on. It...

Re: Ciani mandolin really a Stradolin?

Actually, yeah, Mike, I looked at my older post where I'd said it was solid. I misremembered.

Re: Ciani mandolin really a Stradolin?

It is all a little confusing. Perhaps the seller doesn't know what a bowlback is? My oval hole stradolin was a nice little instrument. Laminated top. Not loud. But that's a decent price for a...

    Ciani mandolin really a Stradolin?

I noticed this ebay listing for an oval hole mandolin with a label saying it was made by Galiano Raphael Ciani. But it looks identical to a Stradolin I once owned.

    Here's the listing:

    Re: Pomeroy Website Hacked?

I got to the site through the link in sblock's post.

And might just add that I've had my Pomeroy oval for a short time now. A very beautiful instrument with a superb sound.

Re: Philphool, Phil Goodson, passes :(

I shared a week-long class with Phil at Augusta and enjoyed his companionship and picking. We chatted through the cafe after that once in a while and I always enjoyed his posts. Very sorry to hear...

    Re: Valentine's Fall

Scott, it's so kind of you to remember my book. It's been difficult to find in the U.S. as it was published in Canada. I've got some discounted copies and will offer them up on the classifieds. Or...

    Re: Need mandolin recommendations a-style

If you're buying from afar, you can't really go wrong with a Collings. And it's easy to find one in a store that will do a set up and take returns for whatever reason (such as The Mandolin Store,...

Happy birthday, Dennis! Your crew did a great job getting me the mandolin I just bought from the store but next time I hope to deal with the man himself!

Hi all. The Pomeroy arrived yesterday (thanks to The Mandolin Store). It's beautiful. And it has the clarity that I was hoping for and that will make it better for old time jams. The neck (not...

    Re: Old vs New Oval

FYI, I'm the one who bought the Pomeroy. It had just been purchased in March by someone (a member here) who had to sell it for some reason (I was sorry to hear) so it is virtually new. And the...
