Love this record a lot, although I think Mickey's harmonica was a little heavy at times for a bluegrass record.
Fantastic!
I get these all the time, but from Harbor Freight and Kohl's. I just auto-delete them. What's their angle though, are they after your credit card number for "shipping"?
Agreed. I have one and it is a fantastic mandolin!
Also check out http://www.emando.com. You can build your own set if you like.
I second that! The only caveat is that the directions recommend you should not use it until the finish is at least a year old.
I have a Northfield Octave Mandolin and they recommended Virtuoso...
I have one of the Gibson Signature cases. It is a super tight fit. I haven't tried it, but I sincerely doubt that I could get my F5 in the case with a Tone-Gard on it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't one of the upgrades in the 500 series Grover tuners?
I had one for a few years and it was my primary mandolin. I liked it. Fit and finish was good, no intonation problems. Good punchy sound. I sold it after I upgraded to a Gibson.
I bought a couple mandolins from Dennis and got to see the Nashville store a few times. I met both Adam and James and they are super people. I'm happy for Dennis and looking forward to continuing...
The only mandolin I've ever had with a loose fitting case is one of the old rectangular Fender cases that came with the vintage Fender Mandocasters. I had to add a couple of well placed hand towels...
I got this first hand from Calton, they now use an oven to totally dry the cases out before shipping - eliminating the offgassing. This is a process they have started within the last year. I sent...
Man, I'm so sorry to hear that. Hope everything gets back to normal soon. I will say Calton did contact me back and gave me suggestions to try and air it out. They've been nothing but helpful so...
How's it doing so far as offgassing? Mine is nine months old now and it's only moderately dissipated. If I leave my F5 in the case for any length of time, the inside of the mandolin smells like a...
Rob's book has been very useful to me and I HIGHLY recommend it.
Makes sense. I really appreciate your input.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? It’s a Gibson F5 - fantastic mandolin - about a year and a half old. Right after I bought it, I noticed chipping under the 5th fret. Even though it wasn’t...
Frank Sinatra used an SM-58 as his live vocal mic for years.
I have an inexpensive Loar that I keep on a stand in my living room, but I keep the Gibson in the case unless I'm using it. I live in the south and the summertime humidity is brutal.
My Calton that I received in February is just recently beginning to dissipate and I've left it open for days at a time.
Adam who used to do the demos, is also very talented and a nice guy. Nowadays, he is a member of the bluegrass band Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers.
Wow, that's nice!
I use a Lakota round braid. The only problem I have is keeping it hooked on the tailpiece pin. The leather is very thin and wants to come off the pin. The first one I had ended up tearing at the...
Count me in as a Mapes mandolin string fan. Their resonator strings are great too!
