The smoker you drink the player you get. (J.Walsh)
I really like the Curt Mangan monels on my F5.
Ditto D'Addario monels but the Mangan's come in gauge-sets I prefer.
Did not like Martin monels but only tried them on a snakehead.
I use 1.4mm Primetones(512P1.4 or 1.5) lg. triangles mostly. Great picks when new.
Need maintenance with constant use. LIke any good pick.
I use nail buffer sticks on the bevels.
Have had a...
I thought the soundboard/body was round at first. Took me a while(right after he mentioned it) that it is really oval.
Just me?
I like it!
Sounds great.
Nice tremolo...ing.
Used D'A Monels mando strings for a couple years. Switched to Mangan because they come in gauges I like better and sound as good as D'A IMHO.
Also use round-core Mangan Monels(13-56) on my Eastman...
Got a nice email from Carlee at Curt Mangan. They will sell Monel round core strings
in any gauge I want! Just hafta cut the balls off. Of the strings. For mando.
I'm just experimenting.
The...
fatt, always wanted a white A3 like yours. Any pics of your Gibson L-1? You have some very cool instruments.
I bet Dr.Cohen's redwood/walnut A5 sounds sweet! I remember talking mandology with him...
I have a couple Small Dog case covers. They are protecting my gorgeous Daffodil Pegasus F-style case and screamin' Tangerine
Pegasus A-style case.
A good case deserves a cover. Those 25 year old...
Just put a set of these round core 13-56 on my Eastman AR605 archtop guitar. Really like them so far. Feel good to both hands.
Been playing Monel mandolin strings for a couple years. Not sure if...
I went down the proverbial rabbit hole searching and listening to the guy playing that black fiddle! And the band is Imar(?)
Gotta find out more about these musicians. Crowd pleasers indeed!
Dawg,at 75 years of age,Matt Eakle, and Jim Kerwin have played together for many years in supergroups of the Dawg genre.
They are all sufficiently talented enough jazz cats to know how/when to...
If it's Sunday start out with a spiritual like "Revival", as in Newgrass. Or "Uncloudy Day". Really nice if others join in singing. Chop it hard and get ready to retune for any further picking.

I was a EXP fan but switched to Monels.
Was underwhelmed by XTs.
Buncha know-it-alls on this cafe.
Yep. I'll take the andante version. The molasses-in-winter tempo sounds like a dirge.
I really like the wild colors my Pegasus cases, an F-style in Daffodil yellow and an A-style in Tangerine.
When in use they have a case-cover anyway so it doesn't really matter. I just like those...
George, you are being cooler than I would be.
I absolutely do not like shipping or receiving instruments, but have done a fair amount
of it. Probably a dozen times. It can be very disconcerting....
I am not overly familiar with Choro or the bandolim in general but Jacob do Bandolim, who I first heard play this music,(thanks to Dawg) and another great player,Elisa, from the group Choro das 3 play...
Flatwound TI strings are an acquired taste I reckon. Nice to the fingers. Don't seem to cut in a group setting.
Tried mittel and starks. Sounded the same when I took them off as when new.
Monel strings has spoilt me. Didn't really prefer the Martin Monels.
I wipe down with just a smidge of WD-40(and rub it off) when they get that "less than fresh" feel.
Agree with everything...
My old Colton's file card has a small pick contained on the back of the card. Great for coarser files. Finer files I use a little brass brush.
Got some 2x4s cut to size and drilled holes to stand...
It appears to me that Marc lived life on his own terms and was, no doubt averse to compromise. He strikes me as
a shining example of courage lived everyday. We should all be so courageous.
