Re: coolest shirt I ever had

I did that too (different search engine), and I spent about 15 minutes or so and didn't find it. Evolution of mandolin. Images. Got way different results. Very good, JB! Higher resolution than that...

Re: coolest shirt I ever had

I worked in silkscreen design for many years and have reproduced shirts before, but I think you have to be careful about who the artwork is owned by.
Is it possibly already available somewhere in a...

Re: Know what this is? It keeps staring at me!

I knew you were kidding, Mike. I'm not a giant fan of winter anymore, but the heat and humidity in Florida! My DH and I went to St. Augustine a few years back in November, and it was too hot to sit...

    Re: Vintage Case Handles

Jim, I will tell you that my paracord handle cover looked great when I finished it, but the loops have compressed, and a good bit of the inside cardboard part is showing again. Possibly it would have...

Re: Know what this is? It keeps staring at me!

Quite a few days to go, though, Mike. Jake's description sounds tempting, but his workload is so large right now, I don't think he'd be super excited to see this arriving on his doorstep.

    I see...

That's an incredible looking mandolin. Too bad about the archive, it would be a good one to immortalize.

  15. Re: If it's not the heat, is it the humidity?

People have been talking about those Boveda Humidity-Packs lately

Sound like some people put them up in the headstock area of the case. There's a zillion sizes, though. I wonder which ones people...
  16. Re: Neck heel crack repair on beater mandolin?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a new mandolin to play and an old one to experiment with repair techniques? You could end up with two usable ones (always good), or have something in hand to practice with...

Re: Parking Lot Picker Mandolin Solos

Somehow one gets to feeling like the information and skills in the next amazing book are going to proceed into one's brain and fingers by osmosis.
Sadly, this doesn't seem to be true.

Re: Ukulele tuned like a mandolin

Not that dissimilar to my new old mandolinetto, Dan. 4 strings vs. 8 (and yeah, steel v. nylon). I have ghs ultralight 9-13-20-32 installed. It's super fun to play.

Re: My review: BILLY STRINGS ME/and/DAD

I'm listening to it right now, and finding it very enjoyable. I saw Billy Strings play in the summer of '21, and liked it very much, but wished I could hear his music more, well, stripped down,...
  20. Re: MAS attack - L Yosko labeled turn of the century mandolinetto

Thanks for that, Graham. I'd looked in the back of your book, but Yosco isn't indexed. I flipped through this morning and found this picture and your paragraph about Mr. Yosco.

    That's pretty cool...

  22. Re: MAS attack - L Yosko labeled turn of the century mandolinetto

I spent some time yesterday looking into the Yosco family. Here is a picture of Bob Yosco, who was brother to L Yosco, the builder. Bob was a fairly renowned mandolin player. What kind of mandolin is...

Re: Do I need a mandola?

I replaced the stewmac repro tuners on my old F2 with Handels. They work better than the repros did. They are kind of loose coming up to pitch, but when you get there, they stay. Really well. I'd go...
