Re: If You Don't Perform In Public....

I much prefer the company of a fine mandolin over the public.
  2. Re: Played a Loar F5 for the first time and met Mike Compton

Now sign up for this year's Monroe Mandolin Camp and get a one on one lesson. You won't regret it. September is right around the corner!

    Gruhn's and/ Carter's?

Heading to Nashville in September. I've visited Carter's in the past, how would everyone compare/contrast these two excellent stores?

Re: Eastman MD-315 for Christmas! Woohoo!

You were right to post it here. Few people at work want to hear us ramble on about a Christmas present. Forum readers are just as excited as you are for a new mandolin story. Great wife, great...

    Re: Reruns from there

The first season I would sit by the computer and watch the show live. Now I wait for the highlights on YouTube. Love the talent, the diversity of artists. It's still one of the only reasons to...

Re: When Did You First Realize . . .

It's just like golf, hundreds of bad shots surrounding a few good ones. But I keep coming back remembering the few times I get it right.

Don't want to hijack this thread, but maybe an ancillary one to this might be: How do you learn to PLAY raw earthy mandolin in the tradition of early Monroe and those cited above?

    Well,...

    Re: SURPRISE!!!... Best Wife ever!!!

I'm with Mike Ziti, I have to hire everything done. Congratulations on your completion and I'll take a look at those armrests.
Spousal waiting area at Carter's? I may go back.
  15. Re: My Morgan Monroe your opinion hope not too bad :-)

    Hello Marco,
I have Morgan Monroe MDM 1, and love it. It will be a great 1st mandolin. As for E), you'll realize what the instrument needs for improvement as you improve.

Re: Anyone stop playing guitar for Mandolin?

Just mandolin for me. Got rid of a Gibson ES 330 in 04. I love the mandolin and can't imagine how much time I'd waste on a Guitar Cafe site.
I do have a Kalamazoo tenor from the 30's but I feel...

    Re: Mandolin on the Oscars

I just hope he received the Oscar gift bag. I hear there was an assortment of Blue Chip picks included.
  25. Re: Why did you choose the mandolin over another instrument?

The David Grisman recording of Minor Swing. The high school jazz station played it and I fell for the sound.
