I get my aged-tone from being old. I’m not torrified, just naturally old
I decided to take a few days off. Picked it back up today. I decided I was going to use Amazing Slow downer and start at a slow speed I can play without errors. This can require some patience. ...
I have a play along track loaded on The Amazing Slow Downer. I am able to play at 70% but just can’t get faster without a picking error. I think I will pause for a few days and try to regain my...
Agree, and I appreciate them taking the risk. I hope they are successful and perhaps with more production get to a lower price point
I have working on Sugarfoot Rag for weeks now. It uses a lot of crosspicking which I found difficult. I can finally play it at a slow speed (maybe 70%) but I am basically stuck at this point. The...
Off topic, non-mandolin response
Yes, I just did buy a car without a test drive. I would have done a test drive but in the post COVID world dealers don’t have cars. I wanted a Honda Civic which...
$45 for a Gibson. Who has that kind of coin?
That is a cool find
My guess is they dont want to start a production run until they have a certain number of orders. Demand for their other products my not have that issue
Not sure how you can reach that conclusion. I think the real question is how many orders will they get at $2600?
Is that when the first batch ships?
I am on the intermediate course on AW with Sierra now, and very happy with it. I have also encountered a few instances where the tab does match what she played. I mentioned this in one of my video...
Good idea. It can serve double duty; as an instrument and as a canoe paddle
They want you to imagine yourself playing awesome stuff on their mandolin. It’s the same reason commercials for SUVs show the car riding in rugged, cool, off-road places instead of the driver go to...
Agree with this. Most hotels will hold your luggage. You’ll want to tip them but that is small change compared to a repair. Maybe toss an Apple AirTag or Samsung SmartTag in the case for extra...
Epilogue: correcting the string routing solved my off tone issues but I decided to throw some grommets on there for the heck of it, since they are cheap. I can’t say I noticed any difference
Technically is doesn’t cost $2600, at least not yet, and maybe it never will. I wouldn't think anyone buys a CF mandolin for the best possible sound, but rather to get a mandolin that is super...
Hoping for some new colors, possible?
The string height on the G string at the 12th fret is ~1.25mm. That seems pretty standard. There are quite a few threads showing on the bridge adjustment which maybe led you to that conclusion
Figured out my problem. The person that did a setup ran the strings on top of the tailpiece instead of below where there is indeed a piece of damping material on the underside of the tailpiece
...
Are these two solutions to the same problem or do they have different purposes? I picked up a new mandolin and am getting some dissonant ringing from what I believe is the tailpiece. There is not...
So is that 54 Canadian years? With the exchange rate that’s only 40 US years
Unless you are Keith Richard’s, you don’t play better hammered.
It’s very possible that future production runs will have refinements the first batch won’t have. That is the trade off for a discounted price I suppose
I have often wondered how much hand carving and sanding goes into a mass market China made mandolin. Is is possible to use a computer controlled router to make a somewhat optimal top? I think my...
