Well, a two-dollar strap will have to do if you've lost all your money but a two-dollar bill.
Sorry couldn't resist.

Nobody knows if there's anything going on in Las Vegas, because as you may have heard: "What happens in Vegas . . ." You know the rest.

Looks like you could get more sound out of the F4 if you pull that rag out of the sound hole!
Maybe put some strings on it.

Nice. Wish I had my Bush model back.
Your MK is an oval hole, while Bill's Loar is an F-hole mandolin. That alone will make them sound very different. The oval hole mandolins are supposed to be sweet sounding with more sustain.
I...
What a treasure this video is! I wish there were more streaming videos of the masters around for us to study.
Frank is definitely an interesting character! I had heard about his different sense of...
Michael Cleveland is pretty handy with a mandolin.
Did you play the same mandolin without the Tone-gard?

How on earth did you guys get that info?
I'm not sniffin' those f-holes!

Gibson Varnished Fern . . .
I think it would be hard, if not impossible to say which of the luthiers of today will stand toe to toe with the Nuggets and Gilchrists. This would be like trying to pick a hot stock on the stock...
I hear Gibson has a new X-braced model that'll blow your ears back.
Seems contradictory for a company named "Arches" to build a flattop mandolin. Nice looking instruments!

A fellow once told me when I was having a particularly bad day at the golf course,...
I used to put it away for a round of golf, but my game has gotten so bad, I thought I'd take a couple of weeks off and then quit. Should give me more time to pick!
Ben has been a good friend of mine for many years. He played with the band, "Loose Ties" years ago and now runs a recording studio in Victor, Idaho.
As to his teaching, I never took mandolin...
Hey, Mike, I used to play guitar in a country band many years ago, and about three or four times a night they'd have me pick up the banjo and play something hot just before we took our break. Now, I...
Hey! LeonEvans, I think somebody forgot your points. Maybe Bill Bussman took one of 'em for his three point. All pretty cool items.
Neat looking mandolin! I was actually considering one about the time the first two or three hit the stores. I just couldn't pull the trigger.
I actually distressed my new Collings V-Deluxe the...
I'd guess that since this picture was in the Bozeman, Montana newspaper, that it has something to do with the Gibson or Flatiron mandolin companies. Maybe somebody from Montana could chime in here.
I think the general consensus is that this type of work would be more money than the mandolin would be worth. Or very close to it. Now the old F5's would be a different story.
Your answer is that there is no answer. Rumors abound on this message board, especially about Gibson. Once in a while Big Joe or Charlie will come on to try and straighten it out, but I'm sure even...
