    Re: Waterloo Mandolin Released

Tone....loud, full, balanced. Good oval hole sound. Not as nuanced as a carved top mandolin. But far and away the best flattop I've played. Being built for medium strings makes a huge difference....

    Re: Waterloo Mandolin Released

The neck is super comfortable. I like smaller necks and this one plays just fine. Dusty Strings had a maple sunburst version. The mahogany sounds great though. Id wanted an oval for awhile and this...

    Re: Shipping in 2020

What do you pay Heritage for shipping insurance? I used to have them but dropped them once they started requiring additional riders to be paid for the potential of having to check an instrument on...

    Re: Kentucky Dawg Oval hole?

Might have been a one off from Sumi. Pretty sure I remember seeing another one with his name on the headstock.

    Re: Kimble two point reviews?

I said it on another thread but i got to play Doug’s two point not long after Will finished it. I would have tried to buy it on the spot if I didn’t already have one of his F5s. A seriously good...

    Re: Kimble two point reviews?

They're one of the best values on the market. Luthier-built, handmade, varnished, Adirondack top and all for about $5k. The one at TME lasted what? A week? Worth every penny. Will has his own...

    Re: Shipping in 2020

I used to buy/sell/trade quite a bit. But I hadn't sold anything in 4-5 years until recently. With all this time on my hands I started going through the instrument closet and decided to sell some...

Re: Are People Buying Less Mandolins Now?

I missed the Chanterelle that Elderly had. Had a lot more inlay than a typical banjo in that price range. Looked like a lot of instrument for $1,100. Oh well, there's a tenor coming that will keep...

Re: Are People Buying Less Mandolins Now?

I really wish I was a clawhammer player. It's amazing the quality of instrument you can get for $1,500-2,500. I almost bought one this week to learn on but I snoozed a day too long. I mentioned it...

Re: Are All Lloyd Loars Dropping In Price?

Hadn't looked at their site in awhile. Wow!! And they have 3 H5s! I mean, aren't there only 15-20 known signed H5s? If I was Loar shopping I know where I'd be headed!

Re: Are All Lloyd Loars Dropping In Price?

    I think a million is probably optimistic. I'm thinking $500-700k. Maybe $250-300K for Reischman's.
