I used a reamer to widen the hole in an Allen tailpiece for the jack. Slower, but less nervous-making.
I'm getting dead links for the "Project" and "History" links in your sig.
The main site looks great!
Simple, easy, and good sounding would be a K&K/JJB internal pup (I favor the JJB so I can get the gold jack to match gold hardware, for a decent price. Two piezos to glue inside the f-holes, either...
I've found this one works quite well; and will give you mm, fractions, or decimal. And only $25.

Here's a video about using oxalic acid.

I use both. The Veritas Palm planes (which is what I'm assuming you're referring to) are more comfortable with their extended handle, BUT they are smaller than even the smallest Ibex planes; about...
I use medium-thick CA. The more solid the connection between the piezo and the soundboard, the stronger the sound, I believe.
If you're talking about the green segments in between the mother of pearl, that's abalone. Be aware that there may be restrictions on getting she'll from US sources. If you're in Italy, you'll...
Did you buy it new? If so, I'd contact Weber.
I would have to vote for Koa, too. However, there are so many East Asian species being introduced these days... (But it sure looks like Koa.)
That's what I do on my guitar builds, but I really liked the idea, and look, of the heel cap being part of the back.
Thanks. Yes, I didn't have the tooling to do the bending or routing around the heel cap, so I decided to forego it. It's been delivered to the commissioner, so maybe they'll post a clip at some point.
Here's my first mando build; an A5 style using some amazing Sitka from Bruce up at Orcas with 30-40 lines per inch.
Have to link to my page, the pic file sizes are to big to link individually....
The piezos weigh almost nothing and will move with the top.
Cordoba (the new Guild owners) have opened up the parts and accessories shop, and have various model bridges ready to ship (I've already gotten one.)...
I'm working on my first mando build using Siminoff's A5 plans. I've built guitars before, and it's standard to use perfectly quarter sawn braces. But in the Siminoff plan, it depicts the grain...
Sorry if this has been covered before, but what method do you use to open up the end pin hole in an Allen cast tailpiece for a pickup jack? Reamer? Step drill? Other?
Thanks.
That's all the info they had on it.
It has a couple of cracked braces, needs a new bridge, probable refret, get the tuners cleaned and oiled, overall cleaning and setup. I should be able to handle...
Hey,
I picked up the cant top mando from Gruhn's "as is" pages as a restoration project. They listed it as being circa 1925. There are traces of where the label was, but it's long gone.
Any ideas...
