    Re: KM-1500 neck issue

There's no money above the 7th fret so you should be good.

Move it along as a project and see if you can get at least some of your money back.

For posterity. I'm assuming you bought this used. Is that the case?

    Re: Kentucky Brand Mandolins-opinion

Years ago I wrote a program to search the Cafe that allowed me to retain the search information in a link. I used it for several years but the Google search just works better so I use that.

Re: Do You Have Too Many Instruments?

    With apologies to Steven Wright...

I have a hobby. I have the world’s largest collection of banjo mandolins. I store them in landfills and attics all over the world. Maybe you’ve seen some of them.

    Re: Kentucky Brand Mandolins-opinion

Unfortunately linking to a Cafe search ID like you have gets nothing for the O.P. You can however use Google to search and post that as a readable link.

Go to www.google.com and enter your search...
  6. Re: Does the mandolin world suffer much from fakes?

The mandolin world has it's share of fakes, some good some really bad. Some are better than the originals.

  8. Re: Shipping a mandolin for repair / setup work !

I love using foam insulation to pack fragile items. You just stack it and build the alcove for the item. I had to ship some servers overnight from California to New Jersey and packed them the same...
  9. Re: This weeks mandolin that won't get a bid or buyer

In the Scottish Gaelic dialect Google says it means spur. Google is not fluent in typo.
  10. Re: This weeks mandolin that won't get a bid or buyer

I'm not sure I would take that if he paid me $200.00 to take it.

    Re: Tax Day Cometh

This article is a year old. More states may have been added. I doubt any went away.

Re: Gibson mando date and model?

Sometimes I wonder how much I've forgotten over the years. Martin is free to wonder the same thing.

Are they available in worm over configuration as well?
  17. Re: Do Martin mandolins fetch higher or lower prices than Gibsons

Rare doesn't always equate to value. If you look at what has driven the mandolin, acoustic guitar and banjo markets in the last 60 years or so it has been the instruments that were the choice of the...
  18. Lyon & Healy Calton Case in Classifieds

I missed this totally. NFI. For anyone with an L&H that they want a Calton case for take a look at this ad. I'm sure there have been others built but I've never seen one.

Re: Gibson mando date and model?

Harmony ceased production in 1975. They were importing instruments right before the end. I've seen Batwings with the normal ratio tuners so I know they weren't used the entire production time. I...

Re: Gibson mando date and model?

The Batwing tuners place it at the end of the Harmony Company's manufacturing days. Very late 60's very early 70's. The H35 piece of the number is the model number, nobody has ever found the...

Re: Gibson mando date and model?

OK, so Gibson was known to sit on unfinished instruments and sell them at a later time. Perhaps building larger batches than they had orders for. Here is a 1941 Gibson F5 (a different model) but it...

Re: Gibson mando date and model?

The headstock on the OP's is bound, the logo appears to be inlaid and the bridge wheels are totally different. The bridge could have been changed but I'd be at least looking for the bound headstock....
