Beautifully done! Lovely tone with sweet dynamics. Post more!
Thanks, Seter. I feel I may be overthinking this, but I like lots of info too.
I would mic if we weren't playing with drums and electric bass. Thanks for your thoughts on the quality differences between the Hora and Goldtone!
It looks outstanding! Have you made any recordings?
I think my desire is to play tunes in that range (an octave below mando). I've seen very good accompaniment on the OM, so I feel confident I could use an OM in that role too. Zouks are a bit long in...
Hmm. No opinions? I'm surprised given that it's a fairly popular choice for a first OM or Zouk.
A shame. A great talent and find human being, from what I've heard.
Hi folks,
I've done a search for this question, but couldn't find a result.
What's the general opinion of the pick-up included in the Gold Tone OM-800? Are they good, good enough or do they...
Thanks for the responses, everyone!
I've decided to go with something else for now.
Has anyone bought an Ashbury Mandola? I’m thinking about this one:

Amen to that!
What tuning are you using?
Yes, it's one of those new 5th avenue cherrywood archtops. I think it would be able to handle the added pressure pretty easily, but I've written the company to ask about it. I only wrote today so...
Hmm. Glad I stopped in here for advice. I'll contact the company (Godin Guitars) and find out what their opinion is.
Thanks,
Tim
Thanks for the help. It's quickly turning into a tougher job than I thought. Still, I think it would be fun!
Hoo, I didn't know that there were so many options! I'm thinking of converting a budget archtop guitar into an OM. I don't know what would the best choice for this project.
The tailpiece for an OM.
I saw a great player of these instruments when I saw Leonard Cohen on Saturday night. They had a very sweet, dry sound.
Does anyone know where I could find spare parts for OMs?
Tim
What's the advantage of this scale length as opposed to regular mandolin scale length?
A life very well led.
Immortal in hearts and Irish music.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Andy Irvine take a mandola and instead of CGDA he would use light strings and tune it FCGc? It should work well. I've been tempted to try this myself.
[QUOTE]Tim's idea of finding a scale length he is happy with should work, because afterwards, there are so many tuning variations, he can tune it as he wants and call it sybill if he likes.

I'm very anxious to order this!!!
