    You want approximately a right angle in your picking arm so that your arm/hand is parallel to the strings. This also means your mandolin neck should be parallel-ish with the ground. This lessens...

    If you want that tone, the pick grip is very important. Itís worth taking the time to get comfortable with it. Neck angle is less important butÖ.with a parallel neck itís closer to your left hand...
