    I use pretty much the same thing for Mandolin, sans the dog hair. For guitar I am partial to the .073 Tortex picks. Stiff with some give.

    There are some expensive picks available. I use a thick Dunlop nylon guitar pick, and I don't use the point usually. Round side seems to give me better control on tremolo, but I like the pointy end...
