    Gotcha, plus if you choose not to stain, you save yourself from dealing with nitric acid and or ammonia. Nasty stuff that.

    If he installed the tailpiece and tuners and they are acceptable, I would suggest you pay him for that. However I would not pay for the bridge installation nor would I have him fix it. You can't fit...

    1. He does not know the difference between a mandolin and a mandola.
    2. That is the worst "fit" of a bridge to a top I have ever seen.

    This guy has no training whatsoever...

    I have never played a "The Loar" mandolin that I liked. That said I have owned a few Eastmans and was very happy with them.

    If you can go a bit above your stated price range I would suggest this...
