I love the self-portrait, Harrison! And the woman playing mandolin, Gertz! Very nice work...I'm going to have to get my drawing pad and box of pencils back out now.

Re: If You Don't Perform In Public....

Performing in public is not the end goal for me. I have done it in the past and it was fine, but kind of like a second job that took a lot of my time away from home.

I play music for my own...
  6. Re: What is the most mandolins you've owned at one time?

I briefly had 2 after I bought a new one and hadn't sold the other one yet. Just one works for me, but that doesn't mean I won't upgrade again at some point.
  7. Re: Played a Loar F5 for the first time and met Mike Compton

That is a cool experience. You must have had a huge grin on your face as you walked out of there with a great new mandolin and having had the time spent with Mike Compton. Thanks for sharing.

Your drawing is quite well done with the contrasts in light and dark. Here is another I did recently. I have been doing this just about a year, so I still have much to learn.

My father did pencil drawings and watercolor paintings quite well. After he died, I took his drawing pencils and a fresh pad of paper. I have enjoyed trying to draw and it makes feel...

Re: How did I miss the latest Sam Bush?

I have seen him play in Emmilou Harris's band and also fronting his own band and both times he was an amazing musician and entertainer.

Plamen's list above omits the Rolling Stone's version of "Love in Vain" with Ry Cooder doing a great mando solo.

  14. Re: Balancing practice between two instruments...

I play several instruments and don't worry about being a master of anything, just enjoying making and learning about music.

It's cool that you decided to experiment and ended up learning some things. I have done the same type of thing on electric guitars and have learned a lot and ended up with some nice instruments.
