Thanks, Cretan. Lovely playing. I see that Nostos by Kostis Avissinos is available for download on Amazon here in the US. How about the other players.

    Re: banjo-mandolin with oak leaf

I looked at a number of videos and stills and she has different instruments in each. That headstock in the video in Allen's post resembles some Stella mandolin headstocks. In fact, take a look at...

Re: old Flatiron, old guy, some thoughts

I have an '83 A5-2, just somewhat fancier than but from the same year as the OP's. I am the original owner. I bought it new from Mandolin Brothers. It is a wonderful mandolin. I have ever replaced...
  5. Re: Phillips Collection of Fiddle Tunes Vol. 2 Help

I already have Volume One of these books. I wanted to get Volume Two but I added up all the separate books on Mel Bay website and it would cost me almost $93 plus shipping. Luckily I found one...

Post #20 according to the info under the video:

Sheri discussed it a bit in this 2015 post.

    Re: Interesting bowlback on ebay

I will send you my size info and other necessities. I often wear my nudie suit in the shower, but that is an entirely different story.

    Re: Interesting bowlback on ebay

I thought the seller meant is was a melon-shaped back. Looks like rosewood to me.

For historical purposes, here are some photos.

    Re: Interesting bowlback on ebay

Pearl work seems a bit amateurish to my eyes, even cartoony. Whoever did it was not the Consalvi of Catania.

I guess it fits in with the guitars by that shop at the Fetish Guitar site. I have in...

Are you typing this in the mirror? :)
  12. Re: Italian mandolin by Antonio & Linda Calsolaro "Te Vojo Bene A

There is a reason, Sheri, why it sounds uncannily familiar... it is "L'Indifference". It is mentioned a few times in the comments on the YouTube page. Maybe he learned them by ear and forgot and made...

Re: is an arm rest a benefit to technique ?

It does look great but requires replacing the tailpiece. I don't mind the clamps. Same as my violins.

Re: Just bought my first mandolin!

I guess it arrived and she is busy playing it non-stop.
  16. Re: First Video of The Mandolin Store new location

Wonderful! The only problem is that there are way too many mandolins. How can we, as service-minded mandolin players, fix this?

They just missed St. Patty's day. Darn! Looks delicious. I am also waiting for Blue Chip Ice Cream.
  18. Re: Does anyone like the new green blue chip picks?

Now, if they made them pistachio-flavored I would buy a few. I think Chris Thile has a special chocolate-flavored one.

Re: is an arm rest a benefit to technique ?

Not that it matters so much, but I don't think I ever saw a plastic armrest for mandolins. Mine is ebony and every other one I have seen is made with some sort of wood with cork or some protective...

Re: is an arm rest a benefit to technique ?

Those look very nice but mine looks a lot more contoured. I believe that Joe Cleary makes them specifically for his mandolins. Here is one from his site:

    Re: Bowlbacks of Note

A mandolin by G. Ceccherini of Roma, definitely of the Roman style with similar neck and headstock to Embergher. The label is interesting. Seems to say that he is successor to Ducci and Associates...

I just started in Safe Mode with no add-ons and they show up fine. So probably there is an add-on that conflicts with FB video for some reason.
