thinking too hard.... playing too little ;)
this is why I do not frequent these forums much anymore. everything turns into a battle. everything!
lets argue about who likes whom. no wait, lets argue about how this was already posted. no...
I have my standard guitar strung up as a tenor (GDAE) and it works fine... not sure of the scale length of the tenor or length of mandocello strings but I think the mandocello is a shorter scale.
Did anyone get more photos of the mustangs? *DROOOOL*
sweet, a collings tenor!!! return of the tenor
Thanks for sharing this.. great articles.
Not sure that _I_ personally would rather be practicing then playing/improv but to each their own :) practice allows me to play better, therefore it is...
Thanks a whole bunch for the info Allen!!!
Yes, it is def the exact model as the AM-500.. even same headstock inlay except different name, possibly marketed to the USA. Somehow Taka would seem...
My dream mando : Bighorn Oval
(Thanks for the move admins) :)
It actually sounds pretty darn good for what I was expecting. It is no prewar Gibson oval, but a similar sound; woody and open, some bite (less bite and volume...
Found this at a pawn shop... $150 including case (I'm gonna use the case for a custom that is being built for me anyways).. Ain't no Gibson A-5 but I've always wanted a jethro two point oval haha so...
The mandolin is only an instrument to produce sound. I feel I need to practice regularly to keep up with playing MANDOLIN, but not to play music, that is why piano is such an appealing instrument.

all of the above... ;) remember the only rules in music are the ones you create for yourself
just make sure you don't try any drum scales on a mando... :mandosmiley:
I have been using the EXP74's strings for years with great results. I only use the J's when I don't have any EXP's around
usually a crowbar opens up mandolins pretty easily...
Ok, so I recently noticed ever so slightly a 'vibration'.. sounds like something is loose inside the instrument itself (brace?) and vibrating. It's not rattling either.
It is nothing outside...
Some here may also consider the fact I don't know a single Monroe lick mandolin abuse...
I find I can focus better when practicing in private..
If only I had 6 fingers......

I went to the Saga office today and they replaced my bag, thanks Saga!!!
I am very much interested in the sound results from this. I have a MK with sentimental value that I couldn't dream of getting rid of, but if this improves the sound by a lot I would consider...
No need to resort to calling me names or putting down others...
