    Re: National Tenor Resonator Guitar

Charles, Not sure what I'm going to do with the neck. I was thinking about doing a basic heat press with the fretboard still attached. Why do you think that extra strip would be a problem? I just...

    Re: National Tenor Resonator Guitar

Tucker, Thanks. It sounds pretty good, but I never got it up to pitch. When it is done, there is no reason that it shouldn't sound as good as new.

    Journeybear, I could only find a 1936-7...

    Re: National Tenor Resonator Guitar

Well, the news isn't good. I put some old strings on it and tensioned them to maybe 80-90% (they were really old). The action at that tension is about 12/64ths which is "just a bit too high". HA...

    Re: National Tenor Resonator Guitar

I have started to work on it some. My wife cleaned to old brown paint that someone had applied to the resonator cover, as well as the body off of the resonator cover. It looks like it was...

Re: Advice on a Replacement Bridge

Buy a deer antler saddle from Rosa String works. I don't think it would ever sag. Might even improve the tone, but YMMV.

ProfChris. Thanks for the link on the neck reset. The process is pretty much what I expected, but the article took all of the mystery out of it and made me pretty confident that I can reset the...

    Re: National Tenor Resonator Guitar

Charley, Thanks. I found a site at www.notecannons.com that had a National catalog from 1936-1937 that showed this exact guitar. That's close enough for me. This site was linked at...

    Re: National Tenor Resonator Guitar

Anyone have a guess as to what year this was made? The headstock design seems unique in that I can't find any pictures of either tenor or 6-strings with this headstock. I have taken a quick look...

    Re: National Tenor Resonator Guitar

I just looked at some pictures on line and it seems that the strip under the fretboard is original. Does anyone know why?

    Re: National Tenor Resonator Guitar

Charley, no, thank god they didn't cut a hole in the top for the pickup. It is held on with two small screws. I intend to remove it, the adjustment knobs, and the jack. My first thought is to weld...

    National Tenor Resonator Guitar

Last night one of the members of a band that I manage gifted me a National Tenor Resonator guitar. It needs some work, but is basically all there. From what little research I have been able to do,...

That is a very nice mandolin. It would be a "keeper" if it was mine.

The height of the nut seems to suggest that it was played with a slide. It does appear home made, and it it certainly unique. Good luck with the resto. Please post pics. as you progress with it.

Re: Help Dating a Gibson F12
