    Re: bVII—IV—I (NMC)

I guess that was the progression in The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony which was the focus of a lawsuit involving the Rolling Stones' The Last Time.

Sympathy for the Devil was also mentioned, and it...

    Re: Looking for suggestions

You seldom see The Loar for sale in the UK.

At least, I didn't when I was looking at options for several months last year.

I recommend Eagle in Huddersfield for mandolin knowledge, setup and service.
I bought an Eastman from them remotely last December and am very satisfied:

    Re: Choro listening recommendations

    Thanks for that list.
I only know Nao me Toques from it.

It may be cliche but learning Tico Tico na Fuba was a gateway drug for me, and I still love to play it and Na Gloria.

    Re: Choro listening recommendations

I am just a dabbler too.

Somehow I became aware of choro in the late 90s.

A colleague was working in Brazil at the time and I got him to obtain the O Melhor do Choro Brasileiro books for me.

    Re: Pig Jicking?

    John,
I am very slow physically in every way but it's amazing how fast I can seem to play when dragged along by a faster player.
Not sure that I'd like to hear myself in isolation though!

    Re: Pig Jicking?

We had the big discussion on this in the Celtic branch about 2007, which I remember as the year I broke my leg. While in plaster and otherwise grounded, I went to SCAT classes in Aberdeen led by Tim...
  11. Re: How do I put 2 recordings from Windows Media Player to YouTub

If you want to add images to an existing sound file, I think you need a video editor.
It will depend on what device you are using, but for a Windows PC, here is a Microsoft's free download link for...
  12. Re: How do I put 2 recordings from Windows Media Player to YouTub

I'm not an expert, but if you have a PC, you can load the recording into (free download) Windows Movie maker and add the image, then export/ upload to YouTube from there.

    Similarly if you have a...

Re: High marks for Schaller GrandTunes

My mate Rab swears by them.
He wrote to Schaller requesting some tuner bits and pieces for a restoration he was doing and they were very helpful.

    Re: stand or sit?

Back when I busked with a friend, he was adamant that you should always stand and look engaged with what you're doing.
His reasoning was that if you can't be bothered to stand why should anyone even...

    Re: Pig Jicking?

    Interesting, Max.
I played in a couple of sessions in Ireland in 2019 and in each, someone asked if I played in a dance band.
I didn't realise it was that obvious and I was wondering if they...

Re: Fingering a G chord walk

I have dumb fingers but I tend to switch 1st and 3rd fingers in that change/descending run.

Or just leave the e string open and damp it or let it ring as feels right.

Possibly someone who played in pub trad sessions mostly, which can get pretty noisy, and wanted to hear themselves.
