    Sonett mandolins

Does anyone have info about Sonett mandolins? Found mine in Sweden if that helps. It’s a flat round hole mandolin. Pretty short. Light wood (laminate probably). I can post pictures later if anyone is...
  2. Re: A tuner shootout: TC Electronic Unitune vs. Peterson StroboCl

Once you get used to it (through practice) you can use a pick with the Peterson without any problems

    Re: Tuner...not Tuners

Peterson Stroboclip. Best tuner I’ve ever had but the TC Clip-on is great too. Not as well built though.

Actually I did see one for sale the other day but I thought it was just a mandolin

    Re: Amy Helm chord form

I played guitar for years before picking up the mandolin and my reaction was honestly that this isn't a very weird way of playing. I don't do it a lot on the mandolin because of how high on my chest...

I'm using a banjolit one. It's great. They'll probably all do what you need them for though.

Re: YouTube policy change, ‘Made for Kids’

Seems pretty simple. Do you aim your videos at kids? Is your intention to have kids as an audience? If not then it’s not for kids.

Some days I like it, some days I don’t. I love to have the choice and thus I’d recommend it.

    Re: I'm buying a Mandolin

Good choice of mandolin! I have a 305 and I’m in love with it.

    That’s a good one. I think I’ll use that.

    Re: What’s your travel case?

My significant other made me a soft textile bag from an ikea blanket. I have a soft case too, but I like those vintage guitar bags that provide no comfort or security.

Re: Fret level after 10 months

Yeah I’ll need to buy the tools soon. I’ve been putting it off on my guitars and now my mandolin.
  14. Re: Mandolin shops in the south of Sweden (Skane)?

I only know that Malmö Musikaffär sells mandolins. I haven’t been there, but I considered ordering my Eastman from them until I found Gitarren i Göteborg, where it was a bit cheaper at the time. It’s...

    Re: My 'Customized' Eastman MD-315

First I sanded spots to make it look worn (and to see what’s underneath), but I’ve sanded down most of it now. Sand it too far and it’ll go right back to the glossy look.

    Re: My 'Customized' Eastman MD-315

I sanded down the chrome on the tailpiece. That looks great too. Don’t sand too deep though. Also coat it with something.

Re: Lose grip on a thick pick or use a thin pick?

My current top pick would be the chicken picks “shredder”. It’s a bit extreme though. How I grip it depends on what I’m playing. Sometimes I switch to their “badazz III”. The thicker and harder the...

Re: Newbie here, suffering from analysis paralysis

That’s great! When it was time for me to decide on a first mandolin I found the Eastman md305 and instantly fell in love. I’ve modified it quite a lot since I first got it, some of which is a big...

Re: Storage: Case vs Hanging on the Wall

Agreed. Most of the ones I own are stable enough to be kept out, as I do, unless there’s some insane weather phenomenon going on. Some instruments will be more sensitive, but I haven’t found one that...

Re: Storage: Case vs Hanging on the Wall

My mandolin is either hanging on me, lying in the couch, standing in a chair or is generally just left somewhere where it can’t be accidentally sat on. I pick it up more if it just hangs out near me,...
