  4. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

OK, so that's out. They are moving downtown to show their commitment to Nashville but obviously don't need to show any Nashville lawyers any love.
  5. Re: Need Help Identifying Grandfather's Mandolin

These were sold under several brand names. That one looks like it was labeled Medalist. There is a video on Youtube of someone playing this same model labeled Medalist. The more common brand names...

They will probably be closer to the attorney's offices. Might save them some travel expense.

Re: vintage mandolin made in USA ?

That's a Columbia label. The brand name was used by multiple distributors. This is a later version of the same label.

Re: vintage mandolin made in USA ?

Harmony used that scratch plate. You're going to find the same mandolin misidentified as a Larson and a Regal. Any chance we could get a full shot of the label? Everybody at that time built for the...

    Re: Rogue RM-100A A-Style Mandolin

Yes. If you want to set it up yourself you might want to get a copy of Rob Meldrum's e-book where he details setting up a Rogue.
  14. Re: Mandolin Luthier Recommendations NY/NJ/PA

Paul's a friend of mine. He's not a guy that uses the Internet so e-mail doesn't work well for contacting him. Paul doesn't specialize in mandolins but he's familiar with them. He's been around a...

Every kid my age that grew up in Oregon was familiar with Douglas Fir. It's actually a pine. I've heard a few decent instruments with Douglas Fir tops.
