Thanks, Steve for the counterpoint and helpful info. I'm going to try to do both things advised here...get something I love the sound of but also that can be sold in case I find something I like...
Thanks for that info. It seems that having something known and respected but not widely available would be good. I'm going to back to candyland (Nashville) tomorrow to play it again.
Hmm... good insight. I was thinking since the Fern was the top of the line model it would be OK for that price, but might find an F for same or less that might sound as good. I did favor the...
That's a great way of thinking about it...thanks for that. This one did sound great...I was just concerned that my tastes could change, but shouldn't worry about it. Thanks again to you and the...
Hi folks,
Does anyone have an educated opinion or experience with a Weber Fern "A"? An '09 is available to me now in the low 3k's, and trying to get a gauge on how desirable this instrument is, as...
Thanks, Bob for sharing your buy/sell experience...that's reassuring so will proceed without worrying about it.

Sorry if this is a "duh" item....
Thanks to all you great folks! Quick, helpful replies that gave me confidence to go ahead and pull the trigger on the used Collings MF oval. Shipping out today!
Thanks for tip on Girouard...didnt' know about them. No ovals for sale in U.S. that I can find though. Will add it to my radar screen.
Thanks for the reply. Yes I did the Nashville trip last week and that helped settle the f vs oval whole question. Not many ovals to try even there but liked the few they had. Ruled out the Gibsons...
Hi Folks,
My question is are the oval hole mandolins hard to sell? Any experience trying? I'm looking to move up from my starter instrument (budget is $2500-$5500) and seem to like the oval hole...
