    Re: Shelter-in-place (NMC)

I have had two weeks of working from home. I don't enjoy it.

Lots of reading, two walks a day, some practicing. I'm so glad my kids are grown. I can't imagine what it would have been like with...

    Re: poor quality or MAS?

    Re: Choir Practice Turns Fatal

    Re: Informal Poll

$10K for a mandolin would be out of my comfort zone, I'm afraid.

A few months back there was an ad in the classifieds for a tricked-out Ellis, with all the extras, including an intricately...

Re: Viola to mandolin or mandola

Particularly if you are quarantined this is the perfect time to buy a decent instrument from a known source. Learning mandolin while you ar shut in sounds like a great project to me!

Re: Gigs Cancelled - Health and Safety

I arrived home to New Mexico a couple of hours ago—our first cases were announced today.

I'm on the board of one of the orchestras I play with. We received a letter today from a pulmonologist who...

Re: Gigs Cancelled - Health and Safety

Trogers, I see you are in Southeast Iowa. I am currently in the East Central part of the state, where my mother passed away earlier in the week. As of today the retirement community where she lived...

Re: NMC, a great experience today

Music stores are often still mom-and-pop businesses. In my experience, they're run by some of the greatest people on the planet.

    Re: Professional Mando Names

I had friends—both gone now—that named many objects in their home. The refrigerator was Francine, the kitchen wastebasket Carl, and the wide two-drawer filing cabinet answered to Gomez.

Re: is an arm rest a benefit to technique ?

I like using one and found that it did help with my right hand position. YMMV. Also, my first instrument had pretty sharp edges and the armrest kept the dents in my forearm down.

    Re: Wedding music

Sounds like it will be a truly fun wedding!

Some of the pieces from Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks or Water Music would be worth a look and listen..
