I love Carter Vintage, and try to visit every time I go to Nashville, which is not often enough. You guys mentioned the Flatiron oval hole he had. I assume you mean the 2003 model, A-style oval hole?...
Thanks Soliver! Yes, Gibson made this particular army-navy in 1996. Not sure how many they made, but you do not see them too often. The one I have was in a local dealer's inventory for nearly 20...

A 1992 The Bluegrass
Good to check in on the old Flatiron pancake thread once in a while.
Just saw video on FB. The Loar survived.
Oh wow, fatt-dad, at least the pancake is still in the family. I bet you get another sometime though. Maybe I will even sell you one sometime, as I still buy and sell them now and then. Congrats!
Oh wow, I really like this. I have had many Flatiron army-navy style mandos pass through my hands, and still have my original 1N, plus a Gibson AN I recently acquired. I had a Redline for a short...
Interested to see how this all resolves. A few years ago a good friend of mine who collects and trades vintage Martin guitars came across a sort of holy grail Martin on Craigslist. The price was very...
Here's a recent picture of my pancake arsenal. Pictured are Flatiron 2MC, 1N, Bouzouki, and a Gibson AN. I guess this was sort of a farewell gathering because I just sold the 2MC earlier this week. ...
Cool JeffD. Out of all the Flatirons I've had, I never have had a mandola. I wish I could have bought yours. If your friend ever decides to sell it, let me know.
In keeping with the historical nature of this thread, here are two recent acquisitions, a 1995 Flatiron 2MC and a 1996 Gibson AN.

Midnight on the Water, as played on my Ridge F-4/F-5 neck, built by Darrel Carender at Ridge Instruments in Pawnee, Oklahoma. I made this video back in January but forgot to post it here. Enjoy!

I had a Weber Bitterroot with Mahogany back and sides a few years ago but I traded it to a guy in Rhode Island. I might still have contact info for him. Who knows, maybe he still has it. I think it...

Rosin the Beau on the Flatiron Bouzouki
Interesting, I notice the label says Nashville. I have an F5-G built in late 1995 in Bozeman, signed by Bruce Weber. And it says Bozeman. Great mandolins though!
And here is the Flatiron 3MC Octave Mandolin (Bouzouki) I recently acquired.

Already posted this in the Post a Video thread, but thought it should be included in the record here too. This is the Flatiron 3MC pictured above. I had a local luthier make an original style bridge...

Maybe it should be called PMAS, Pancake Mandolin Acquisition Syndrome? Whatever the case, here's what I picked up this week, a 1996 Flatiron 3MC mandolin, a good match for my Flatiron OM. Keep an eye...
Actually Jim it kind of was a compulsive purchase. An opportunity presented itself. You might call it SOMAS....SUDDEN ONSET MANDOLIN ACQUISITION SYNDROME.
