Here are a couple originals I have.
You looked at my '34 fern at one of those gatherings and said it was red for sure.
The round end tuners from the 30's are solid brass, not gold plated.
Others have inquired about the names of the band members in the past. Here is a list of names on the program that should help answer that question. I have read that he "discovered" these guys. He...
Here it is with the damage repaired. I guess if you're trying to sell a photo you shouldn't upload a high quality scan.
They did a good job with the photos. Shows all the damage and non original parts so there won't be any surprises for a buyer. There appears to be a big nasty crack by the added strap pin. I would...
right around 29 1/4, just a little under maybe, the H4 is 28 1/2
That's a nice old photo. Would you mind re-posting it at a higher resolution? Assuming you have the original, thanks.
The F7 shown above was owned by a local guy since the 60's. It was already neck splice converted when he bought it. I asked Michael to do a bare neck so he gave it the vintage look you see in the...
Here are some pictures of an F7 conversion I had done this year. The donor F7 had a crummy neck extension from the 60's so it was a perfect candidate for this. Michael Lewis made a new maple neck so...
To answer the tuner question, the original nickel ones worked so well I didn't feel any need to change them. They have a cool 1930s look. I also had CA make a teardrop style pickguard to match the...
I have a 38 with those same tuners. Mine had a poor quality neck extension done many years ago so I had Michael Lewis make a proper F5 scale neck reusing all the original stuff where possible. The...
The picture shows the modern style saddle, did you go back to the original style?
I liked the Weber 2 point the best. This year I tried out lots of ukes due to the shortage of mandolins (for this large of a show) and my favorite was the Martins. Also this year the noise was...
I installed it low to match the height of the scallop.

I installed a CA guard recently, not an easy thing to do. I used a drill press for the holes in the guard. I clamped it to a piece of wood to keep it steady. To drill the holes in the side of the...
I thought this would be interesting to discuss. You never see a 40's F5 for sale. The neck looks like it's been stripped of it's finish. The seller has included lots of photos....
How deep is the crack above the pickguard? The case looks very good.
Heard from mutal friends on facebook that he passed away, no details though. I always enjoyed his company.
Someone posted this video of Bill Monroe recently playing a pink Telecaster. Warning, this may be shocking to some viewers.

I think that 750 price on those for sale might be a stretch. I listed mine here for less that half of that and didn't get much action.
I don't have any way to date the case, I got it without the F5 inside. The other one I have looks the same but no badge. Too bad I can't convert them to a Les Paul case.
I have a couple of these brown and pink F5 cases. One has the Geib badge inside.

I've been told that the A2Zs were made using leftover A3 tops and that the higher level mandolins like A3 and A4 used better quality top wood. Someone more knowledgeable might want to comment on that.
I brought my favorite pick with me and tried to play as many as a could. The noise this year was pretty bad, making it hard to hear anything. Of the mandolins I played my favorite was the KM-1500....
