I've played mandolin for a long time but grew up playing it so I never really learnt any musical theory apart from a few lessons when I was about 5. I've got hold of an old guitar that is tuned in...
Thanks to everyone for the in depth replies. I haven't had much time over the holiday season to mess around but began yesterday.
I found that on my A and E strings I had wrapped the string around...
One of my A and D strings seem to regularly go out of tune now (started ~6 months ago). I have a Phil Davidson flat top mandolin I bought ~10 years ago. I’ve never really performed any maintenance...

Has anyone had experience buying a mandolin/octave mandolin (etc) in Vietnam? I've heard that Ashbury manufactures over there and am passing through early next year for a trip. Ashbury doesn't...
Mate, I'm planning a trip to Vietnam in January. Do you know where I'd be able to pick one over there ?
I'm currently in the market for an octave mandolin (non-pono style). I have an Ashbury mandolin which I purchased in Ireland about 10 years ago now and was hoping to pick up one of those if possible....
