A bit of a newbie here, so this might not be an option as I would have expected to see it already, but is there not somewhere to buy nylon strings that would work with a mandolin, or even just made...
Also, as a new player as well, it can be tempting to over-practice (if you believe there is such a thing). Just try to have fun and give it a break when needed. Which can be hard when playing is so...
As a new mandolin player of 6 months or so, I've seen what an important figure in this community you are. I've seen the people you've helped as well as myself. Thank you. I truly hope, and believe,...
A couple tuners on my MD315 are super stiff as well, and they haven't eased up over the half-year I've owned it. It doesn't bother me too bad though. Not enough for me to replace the tuners anyway.
Thanks guys, this has given me and most likely quite a few others a lot to consider!
I've worked with DAWs before, and they're not too hard to use, Just expensive when including the price of microphones and stuff like that.
That's true. I'm sure there are plenty of 3d printing filaments out there that are made just for that.
Haven't been playing long, but I've been playing about every chance I can get since I started. So, naturally, I'm ready to start blaming outside sources for my lack of ability! Only joking, but I...
we have a makerspace here, and we do have 3d printers, but we don't have any printers capable of laser. Maybe a larger college would?
If you're a good writer, write some songs for a full band. If you don't think you can sing quite up to snuff get another to sing and you can back him or her up (if applicable) Same with playing, if...
He's an incredible player. Any genre or style he's so good at. His touch is so light and effortless looking, and his tone is just about flawless. If I ever play like that, I've made it, and you can...
Upon first search I see a couple sites for the chords, which can be helpful but do don't do much for something as showy as flippen I also see one video on youtube called "flippen - Solo Mandolin"...
I don't have any experience with either of these mandolins, but I say put quite a bit more time into getting good and loving playing mandolin. Really get technique and such down so when you are ready...
Thanks for the tips. I'll make sure to record what I use. I'm the same way with the trying new stuff, but a a bad memory.
You should try blacksmithing! It's actually not that hard or expensive to get into. It seems like you need more than you actually do. Just a block of steel, a hammer, a forge (you can easily make...
Very cool! thanks guys. :mandosmiley:
Alright haha, well I guess I'll stick with this kind, and I might try the uncoated version if I can find them over here in the colonies.
any other suggestions are still appreciated of course :)
Hey, I just recently starter playing. I bought my Eastman MD315 used for a pretty good price. I don't know how long it had been sitting before I bought it. I replaced the strings that were on it with...
I'm sure it's child's play for you vets, but I've been playing for a week and a day, and just got down whiskey before breakfast haha! learning all the time.
Okay, I've built quite a few things. I've never built a mandolin though. So I'm not going to try to give you techniques because really I don't know. I know you say this is your first build, so I...
Thanks for the info and recommendations. And it was a bit of a joke (albeit a dumb one) about drowning them in oil. I don't intend on actually applying that much haha.
Thank you both! These are both exciting options That I will check out.
Thanks for this link! I'm gonna drown them in oil next change I get.
Does anyone else have an Eastman mandolin (particularly the MD315f model), That is absolutely brutal on the fingers to tune? a couple of the pegs on mine can feel almost fixed at times! It doesn't...
